Wearing a hat while playing billards

I can see where wearing a hat in any high profile event is "bad form". Should be dressed to match the occasion.

I am a hat wearer BTW. lol

But in the everyday,,,,or a low key pool tournament,,,who cares,,wear what ya want.

Ever since someone asked me,,on here,,,how I can wear a hat while playing pool. (because it gets in the way of vision)It has been getting in my way. Not sure if I changed my stance,,ur what. But I'm not liking it much.

I agree to an extent, PLEASE do not wear sweats. I believe its poor form when people show up to a pool tournament in their pajamas.

OR ANY TIME ... I'm so sick of seeing guys in their oversized basketball shorts or track pants - and these are dudes who haven't seen a gym or (b-ball) court in many moons. You're leaving the house, put on real pants and a real shirt - one with sleeves. [/mini-soapbox]

I wish I had a hat half the time because my bangs are in the way.
BTW thanks for the tip. I don't think any one cares most pool halls are casual and relaxed and if your somewhere more formal then wear a formal hat.

Like that name!

Keeps the light off of my glasses as I shoot. Don't like it? <shrug>

That said...

I played in what I would classify as a local professional event recently. 32 man event with money added against the likes of Chip Compton, Joey Gray, Gabe Owen, and Shane McMinn. I wore slacks, collared shirt, and no hat.

LOL what a joke. HAHA!

A very good local player always wore a hat to play yet didn't wear a hat at any other time. I asked him why and his answer surprised me. He said that he adjusted the hat to only see the table, all background movement was blocked by the bill of the ballcap. In addition he grew accustomed to a certain feild of veiw on his set up to the shot so he knew if his fundamentals were in the ballpark...

Good insight, and I might also add along that line .......by looking through the your hat brim, you can check when aiming to see if you're using your dominant eye.

What's wrong with wearing a hat when playing pool? What do you have against hats? U. J. Puckett, famous pool hustler, often wore a hat while playing pool.

It's sort of "Bush League". I don't know what 21st century pool etiquette is? I consider it poor form. Like smoking at the table. Bum Phillips never wore a hat in the Astro or Super Dome, and that big Texas hat was his trademark.

What are you covering up??? It's better than a toupee I guess.

You complain too much. Just shoot pool, concentrate on your game.

Huli Wigmen wear hats too when playing pool too. You got a problem with Huli Wigmen? :p

Don't you ever take that hat off for anything?
Bandit
Sure.
I take it off for one thing, and one thing only.:D
Carrie
If we were lost on a desert island together... Yes?
Do you think we'd get along and talk and things?
Bandit
Sure.
Yeah, we'd get along.
It'd never be boring, I can tell you that.
It would never be boring.
Carrie
Take your hat off.

:D

There's a couple of guys that wear hats where I play - I asked them once how they can play with the hats, I tried it once and it was very distracting - but for them, they said it helped with the unevenness of the lighting between standing and being over the table. *shrug*

Did these guy wear glasses? I do...and always wear a ballcap outdoors to cut down on the light refractions...usually don't playing pool, but beginning to think it may help me see a bit better.

I wear a hat or the same reason.

I wear a hat sometimes when I play, glad to see it bothers you.

This is turning out quite the way you thought it would is it?

You beat me to it, but that is exactly why I wear a ball cap while playing pool, it's like radar!, all you see are the balls and the table, and certainly helps keep you from seeing anything else going on that may shark you.
