It is great to see you back posting again. I have been patiently waiting for this day. Ok lets hear some stories.

Thanks for the kind words, Tim! A full report is in progress.

It was great chatting with the players, meeting new faces and hanging out with our friends at the IPT King of the Hill Shootout this past week. One night, a well-known Detroit player invited Keith and me to go out and eat dinner. He said that Charley's Steak House was the finest restaurant in Orlando, and a nice juicy filet mignon sounded mighty good to me. So off we went.

There were five of us in all, and I was quite surprised that there wasn't a waiting list to get in the joint. When we were seated, though, my eyes did a double-take when I looked at the prices of the entrees. Keith ended up splitting a 50-ounce T-bone steak and 1-1/2-pound lobster combo with the Detroit player [100 bucks], and I ordered a 32-ounce filet mignon [50 bucks]. All vegetables and side dishes were extra. Total bill for five? $300 with tip. The stories that were told at that dinner, though, were priceless.

Here's a funny one. Years ago, JewPaul was the man in Detroit to play. He still partakes in games of stake today, but is kind of in semi-retirement compared to days gone by. JewPaul had no fear and always traveled with very deep pockets. He'd match up with the best of 'em and would bet as high as his opponents would allow. The only stipulation was that he did not want ANYBODY on the rail to side-bet on him. If they did, he would not try to win and many times lose. Rumors have it that he did so deliberately, a personal quirk of JewPaul. So it soon became common knowledge to NEVER side-bet on JewPaul, or at least not let him know about it.

So one fine day, JewPaul walks in the pool room with a beautiful lady on each arm and asks if anybody wants to play some. The Detroit player was a little on the shortskies, but he managed to get a backer to lend him three nickels, hoping to play JewPaul a nickel a pop.

The game was on, and JewPaul beat the poor Detroit player pretty quickly. During the third game, the Detroit player was getting ready to call it a night when he saw his demise, losing his last nickel, and lo and behold, he looked to the ground and saw a bunch of hundred-dollar bills on the floor. And it happened to add up to 500 bucks, the price of one game.

JewPaul acted oblivious, as if he didn't drop the dough, but it was thought that he truly wanted the Detroit player to discover the wad of cash and pick it up because he wanted to keep the action going. You see, JewPaul had 10 times that amount of action, betting on himself with the rail, and he didn't want it to end. So the Detroit player figured he had nothing to lose, picked up the bills, and the action continued. The Detroit player said it was one of the funniest experiences he's ever had playing pool. Even years later, JewPaul never admitted that he dropped that nickel on purpose, but that's the way it went down. :D
