Went over to the darkside, I tried a G-word yesterday

Well after stalling for several years I finally tried the Michael Jackson thing. Yep, bought a glove! Definitely a help in the hot and humid weather we have but a couple of issues. One thing, the largest glove that company made didn't fit well and cut into the area between my fingers where the two open fingers were. The other thing is that we don't need anything extra to make our hands sweat down here. I am usually soaked with sweat after playing a few hours.

Gloves work, I don't like them. Which brings me to the finger slides. Been planning to order some to try but I wanted to be sure the basic idea worked first. I remember some uproar over who actually was the rightful marketer of the finger slide things but I have slept since then. Who should I order them from?

Hu

PS: Oh yeah, one slightly used, more than slightly smelly glove for sale CHEAP!

thanks!

It is the rare day that isn't really humid in New Orleans and the fingerslides seem like the ticket. The gloves allowed me to tighten my bridge enough that I was missing shots with a lot of english and my ole aim points, the cue isn't deflecting as much in a substantially tighter bridge.

I'll order the fingerslides before the day is done. I much appreciate the information.

Hu

PS to all: I rinsed the glove, I now want another fifty cents for it. That makes fifty-two cents total, plus shipping and handling!

FingerSlides much better than a glove

Hu my friend,

One thing you might want to know about the great FingerSlides product, is that its inventor -- Nancy Cote -- is able to apply just about any customizations you want. For example, I'm about to have her customize a set of FingerSlides for me that cover the entire index finger. (The stock FingerSlides product do not cover the entire index finger; the index fingertip, all the way to the first knuckle joint, is uncovered. For me personally, this is a bit of a problem, because I use a closed-loop bridge, and the cue shaft makes contact with that uncovered portion of the index finger -- namely, the pad of the index fingertip.) Nancy's a great gal and very amenable to work with.

I'll bet you like the FingerSlides product for the same reason I do. While a full glove gets in the way of "feeling the table" (i.e. good portions of the palm and heel of the hand are covered by the glove -- the same portions that contact and "need to feel" the table), FingerSlides do not -- the only areas they cover are where the cue shaft contacts the hand. (I tried that "G" word as well, and didn't like it one bit -- even after playing with it exclusively for a week, every day. I couldn't "feel" the table, a staple of my foundational mechanics that I simply could not get past.) Plus, FingerSlides allow the hand to breath better than a glove -- the material Nancy uses is very porous and absorbent at the same time.

Good luck, and let us know what you think when you get your FingerSlides!

Hopefully those are CLEAN pantyhose, otherwise you'll have to use a very unique underarm deodorant that also controls feminine odor... :D

Nice meeting you Hu over the weekend at The big Easy..It musta been after we left that you were doing the glove thing cuz i'm sure ida remembered..lol....j/k but it was nice meeting u & sharing some stories..

good point

Sean,

An excellent point. thanks! One thing I liked about the G-thing was that I could use the closed bridge on more shots. For years I used a closed bridge about 98% of the time and only went to an open bridge when forced to.

I can't tell if I am going to need the Sean Special version of the FingerSlides or not, the last joint of my finger does touch a little on some shots but it doesn't seem to be dragging hard. I'll try the regular version first. My hands are fairly short but very wide, more like paws. I may have to send her a tracing and tell her to fit to that. Reminds me LL Bean may still sell shoes and boots fitting to a tracing. They did for decades after everyone else quit.

Troy,

It was tucked away in the same place I used to keep something else tucked away in case I "got lucky" in high school. I'd had rather my mom caught me with the Trojan than anybody see me with a glove if I didn't have to use it!

I did much enjoy meeting you. I have had many a good time in Houma over the years dating back to about 1970 and the dragstrip. Lotsa beer, lotsa pretty girls, lotsa fast cars, lotsa good guys just out to have a little fun. Nothing not to like!

I tried that and it was terrible. I couldn't make a shot.

I may try it again, but I think I'll have her take them off first and see how that works.
