Accustats has everything links are in my signature below. take a look, do your shopping online.
accustats has been around a very long time !

Accu-Stats is great - My question is asked not because of a shortage of dvd's on pool, but an over abundance. Which is the best specifically.

VEPS by Dr. Dave and Tom Ross. I haven't seen every instructional DVD out there, but I seriously doubt that there's anything that can match it.

I looked—it's the most underutilized section on AZBilliards.

The answer is: the series created by Don Feeney and any of Grady Mathews' videos. Bert Kinister produced the Don Feeney videos. Grady's videos have stood the test of time. His "Advanced Pool & Billiards...," or something similar, is the standard for intermediate or advanced play. It's my desert island instructional. Jimmy Reid's are outstanding too!

There's a whole section in the forum dedicated to reviewing instructional DVDs take a look:

Are we reading the same part of the forum, because I don't see either the Grady or Feeney series? In fact, entirely different DVDs are the ones that are the most recommended.

Mastering Pool
Pool IQ
Jimmy Reid Almost Everything I Know
The Hong Kong Challenge - Not an instructional, but probably the best pool playing you will ever see. It is also about 10 levels above advanced if you consider the length of the match.

anything grady has done is invaluable! i can't recommend it enough.

buddy hall's how do i win from here was really good too. 2 way shots and good ideas on how to kick.

> The best ones I've personally ever seen as far as a systematic way to improve are the Kinister videos, specifically the 60 Minute Workout for 8/9 ball. This video WILL add 2 balls to your game if you apply it,and even more if you really put the time in. Others in his series of fine videos that will help are Advanced Fundamentals,The Shotmaker's Workout, and The Big Bang.

A great one that explains all kinds of things that happen physically during a pool stroke, and how they affect a shot,is the Don "Preacher" Feeney tape called Stroking and Advanced Cueing Techniques.

The Grady vid mentioned earlier called Advanced Principles of Pocket Billiards is worth it's weight in platinum.

There are others, such as the Jimmy Reid series,C.J. Wiley's,and anything by Buddy Hall. Tommy D.

Thanks Jim. That's very kind and flattering. It feels good to know that people appreciate all of the hard work Tom and I put into VEPS.

Regards,
Dave

I bought a tape by Grady - kick shots ...... - I can't remember the correct name. But I can tell you that Grady slurs his words so much you can't understand what he is saying. Two of my friends agreed and they are not a deaf am I am.

The instructional tapes will give you the basics and some drills etc. Ive never picked up anything super useful from videos other than a couple of kicking concepts. IMO I think you need to watch high level play and see what the players are doing.
There was a tournament tape from the late 80s early 90s of Mike Sigel vs Mark Jarvis. Sigel plays almost perfect pool. Ive never seen the accustats on that match, but Im guessing hes in the HIGH 900s. Watch his pattern play, and contemplate why he is playing the balls off the table the way he does. Knowing and understanding the why is huge. After that the repeatable accuracy and speed control are up to you.:D

Dr. Dave and Tom Ross' DVD's have so much info it will boggle your mind. Among my favorites for basic, hard rock info are those by "Lil" Joe Villapondo. He gives great info in a real comfortable style. For the beginning fundamentals an overlooked set is the 2 DVD set done by Randy and Scott Lee.

Customers say its the best on fundamentals

It depends on what you are looking for really.

For strategy there's a ton of great stuff on the market... Grady Matthews, accu-stats, Buddy Hall, Nick Varner..

Also lots of great drills and stuff out there including IPAT... Dr. Dave is good too.

As for fundamentals most of my customers say that mine is the best they have seen for sure.

Of course I agree :)

Here is a recent review, one of many... more on my site

"Hi Max,

Hope you’re doing good, I've been watching you play on some internet streams lately and you are playing great.

Several months ago I ordered your DVD set directly from you (your web site) I just have to tell you in all the years playing, taking lessons from the best people in the country and all the other books, DVD's and training aids I have learned more from your DVD set than anything else I've ever purchased.

These days when I buy pool stuff I am satisfied if I learn one new thing, I've learned so many new things from your DVD's that I've lost count, and I'm still learning new stuff every time I watch them. I wish these were available when I first started it would have saved me allot of time and money. The bridge section alone changed my game substantially (I finally know what a firm bridge is).

Again congratulations on such awesome DVD's, you have all other instructional material beaten. I think your stuff is so good I almost hate to mention it to my friends and other competitors but I do out of respect for you and great effort it took you to make it the correct way so the guys like me that work and can't play eight hours a day have good information that we can use to get the most out of games in the time we have.
Thanks again Max,

Greg Scott"

There are lots of other good ones I did not mention, did not mean to slight anyone. Mika's Mastering Pool looks like the best production and graphics ever, and all of Sigel's stuff is amazing, Kinnister adds value, Bob Henning and The Pro Book series is great.

I'm just saying in my specialty, fundamentals, its the best and most info. Shot in a basement with decent lighting, high resolution, and scores of camera angles.
