what cues do you regret letting go?

Just curious what cues you honestly regret letting go. I know I sell cues when I'm in a pinch and need some cash. Also sell cues just for the hell of it.

Ones I regret letting go of are d-17 that was one of the nicest hitting cues I've owned. A scruggs sneaky I picked up new back in about 99. Sugartree and Bautista sneaky's, and Mason Houghland merry widow cue. The Mason merry widow may well have been the best hitting cue I've ever owned.

The d17 I traded back in about 90, really wish I had kept it. Had a stained j-18 at the same time that I sometimes miss.

The other couple 100 cues I don't really miss all that much.

For me, it is my Sept. 1989 Richard Black and an Its Goege Cue. The Black hit very well. It was my first custom cue which I bought second hand. At the time I upgraded from a McDermott so it was a huge change for me. Love the hit. Eventually I sold it for my Omega/DPK. Well worth the change, but I wish I held on to my Black as well. The Its George cue I bought off a friend for $200 back around 1995 maybe? I had my Black at the time so this was just a back up cue. I eventually sold it. I knew nothing about cue collectibility at the time so I had no idea what they may be worth in the future.

My 1973 Titlist Gina cue and 2 Southwest cues out about 10 I have owned as far as hit is the concern. As for show of quality inlays and overall design thats a big list alot out there because of cnc cues.

Murray Tucker Titlist conversion
Mike Lambros w/ultra joint
TAD-1
Pre date Southwest

are the only ones I miss out
of 50 or so to go
through my hands

I've owned lots of cues but here's the ones I wished I would have hung on to.

1979 Scruggs Rambow style 4 point ebony/ stained BEM w/ivory joint.
1980 Scruggs 4 point ebony into stained BEM forearm steel joint.
1983 Gus Szamboti rosewood on rosewood 4 point with flat face ivory joint and inlays.
1983 Gus/ Dufferin blank ebony sneaky pete, flat face w/2 shafts, ivory ferrules.
2005 Ginacue 17a 5-point w/ivory joint and leather wrap...was a good player and I went through several cues before I found a cue I liked better (Carmeli ivory jointed 6-point ebony/bocote Hoppe).

I had a 1969 National Tournament rosewood cue that I bought new and loved but someone stole it.:( BTW, I'm done selling my playing cue because I'm broke or quitting pool!

I would say there are 2 that I miss, and would buy back if I could...

My 2003 Skip Weston...it just played really well for me.
My 2007 Josey uber-fancy sneaky pete...another great player.

Oddly enough...both cues were Gabon ebony/BEM...my least favorite wood combination...LoL. Go figure. :o

However, with that said, I am very happy with my current player! :)

1) Richard Black's Ivory jointed ebony on ebony black baron.

2) Zylr's pink ivory plain jane

Snookered <=== only two so far

A James White amboyna burl sleeve and points into a great piece of birdseye. Beautiful and played great.

As a dealer thats a tough question

But a few stick out in my mind.. we had a Bushka and a Boti that were just fabulous players. I had a Palmer, and a beautiful South West that were great.

Though I didn't sell it or give it away, I killed my Joss "Color of Money" cue while using it as a break cue. I was literally heartbroken. Makes me regret using it for something other than a playing cue.

Truth be known I also miss a dzuricky sneaky I had. Really great bar cue, and just really enjoyed working with Bob Dzuricky while having it made.

Back in the early 90's a guy in my area use to sell Scruggs sneakies for $150. I had 3 of 4 of them at one time. Only if I knew now back then. :D

amen to that. I could buy them for 100 back then. Wish I'd of gotten about 40 of them.

Oh boy...ummm...all of them???

Schon LTD 610 and 724: There are 12 of each...but I'll never find either again. Both had recon turquoise and ivory inlays. The 610 was rare...as it was wrapless. I bought both from Hawley's back in the day...I miss them.

Blackcreek with Bill Schick-style Chicago inlays between four veneered ebony points...ivory joint and hoppe ring. I sold this cue to Ken Carfagno over a year ago now...and have even seen it at the Expo in Valley Forge for sale since. One of the nicest cues I've ever owned.

Tim Scruggs ebony wrapless with brass rings and ivory diamonds...solid ivory butt cap and joint. This one went with the Blackcreek to Kenny. Have seen it around a couple times. I miss this cue too.

This will sound silly but I had a Predator SPJU cue. I had the tenon filled and a phenolic tip/ferrule installed. That cue broke like a telephone pole. I sold it to Bamacues and I've tried getting it back but to no avail.

I'll fix up another one some day. It's almost as if the cue ball exploded off the tip.

Also a Tulipwood Espiritu I had. It was just a plain jane but it was very pretty wood.

My first cue, a Mali T-something or other. T-3? T-4? I know who has it, but he won't sell it back to me. He bought it for $75 off of me in 1990 or so.

My first Meucci - a customized Jim Rempe model (the one with the links in the butt sleeve). I sold it trying to quit the game in 1993.
