What do the Top Players in the World AIM at?

This thread needs to be stopped. Its rediculous how many people on this forum are only here to ridicule other people. They find themselves big and bad sitting behind thier computers. Its just really annoying to see this kind of stuff happen all the time. I wish one of the moderators would step in and shut this thread down.

Yes. Calling people "idiot" and "mentally defective."

I find it annoying too.

but we can still
enjoy :-)

Lou,

I'm gonna have to back up Bill here. This is *not* a reasonable way to interpret it. It is exactly like saying "everyone has a certain route they take from their house to their job". We don't all live in the same house or work in the same job, so everyone's route will be different.

The meaning of the phrase "a certain ______" is specifically that each example is distinct and unique. It is *possible* that they are all the same, but this is *not* the implication.

No offense Lou, I like your posts!

Thanks, KMRUNOUT, I like your posts too. In particular the one up the thread a bit where you tried to explain to Bill why umbrage might have been taken by his posting style.

But, I think we will have to disagree on what a reasonable interpretation of his original statement could be because he says ..."*a* certain way..." No biggie -- I just think it's easy to come away with the impression that he was trying to say one, or the same, certain way.

Among other things, he could have posed it more clearly, IMO.

Ever watch the video available on youtube of Torbjorn Blomdhal playing Efren 9 ball? Blomdhal is a total robot, and runs out like a machine. Nothing wrong with the accuracy he hits the object ball. I think if this guy decided to take up 9 ball, he would do quite well!

KMRUNOUT

I believe he does occasionally play 9ball and is more than proficient at the game.

Not to worry, Lou. Whenever I sense shark-infested technical waters I throw Dr. Dave in first...

Bill, here's a couple of charts on the subject from Dr. Dave's excellent website (http://billiards.colostate.edu/bd_articles/index.html). As you can see, if you hit the OB anywhere near a half-ball hit you'll get something near a 30-degree CB deflection angle.

Patrick:

Unfortunately, this [good] post is for naught, for Dr. Dave is not a "TOP" player either. Into mr3cushion's circular file it goes!

Yeah, we're going to have to scratch Dr. Dave's input.

I know there've been accusations of hijacking this thread, but that's what happens when you limit yourself to responses from only the top bestest players. I mean, what are the hoi polloi suppose to do?!

Fair enough Lou. I took it as "they all have a specific way of doing it". One could assume that they happen to all have the *same* specific way, but that isn't the only possibility. SO I hear ya!

Take care,

For what it's worth, I know a guy who occasionally plays in my APA league in Lawrence,MA. He is a strong player, probably low A speed, maybe high B. He doesn't have to like it when we play 8 ball or 9 ball, but from what I hear I stand zero chance against him in 3C. He has a legit run of 21!!! I don't know many people that can make that claim. I think he is actually considered a "B" player in billiards, but that's still pretty strong imho. The reason I bring it up is that over the past several years he got really into billiards, and I must say I think his pool game suffered...mainly from missed balls. Man can he play position well in 9 ball though!

I believe Blondahl is or at least was a member of the Sweedish National 9ball Team.

I believe Blomdahl is or at least was a member of the Swedish National 9ball Team.
More recently he has been playing in some kind of European masters pool league in which they play 8-ball, 9-ball and 14.1. I played some straight pool with him a couple of years ago and he ran 50 or 60. He also makes some amazing shots at one pocket.

Realy makes ya want to post again doesnt it Bill?

lol. No, but like you I'm a fan. Thanks for the good thought though.

Here's one from E.E. just for Bill: "Knowledge is a polite word for dead but not buried imagination."

Didn't he play Efren not too long ago and hang pretty good?

Or was it the other way around?

Oh, great. Now we'll never get another thread we're supposed to stay the hell out of. Thanks a lot, AzB.
