"Banned. I reported your last post Jim when you referred to AZ members as "tards".

You were treated just as you treated others - with disrespect and eventual contempt. AZ was just a tool to sell your stuff. It means nothing else to you and neither do pool players."

And I had to ask myself, what is AZbilliards? What is it suppose to mean to us? I would like to think it is a place where we can inform and teach each other. That is why I joined this forum. I think it is far from that. It seems "we" on AZbilliards think we are the kings, police, and policy makers of the pool world. "we" pass judgement on everyone. Want to have people banned because they have different opinions. "we" think we are smarter than non members. "we" believe we are the deity of pool.

This is a forum that truly act like a daycare, or grade school and "we" are the bullies. You wonder why pool is having such problems? Look in the mirror, it is us. Isn't it time we all grow up and be thankful that the wonderful game of billiards exists, and we have a place to contribute and learn?

What is AZ Billiards? Good question. Allow me to reveal the secret. AZ Billiards is like a collage. Well, perhaps not exactly like a collage. More like vomit. It's made up of a lot of good things that you consume, then it just doesn't sit right in the gut. Then you realize that it was a bit spicy and perhaps a wee bit rancid to boot. You take some advil followed by a shot of bourbon. But your stomach still churns and your head still aches. You go to the restroom and projectile vomit the contents of your stomach (and your mind if you're lucky). You vow to never return to the vile, crude and depraved place. But, like a methadone addict, you return to get your fill within five minutes time. Ain't life grand...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm,
You certainly have a different view of the strife that plays out here than I do. I see it as a healthy way for disputes to be debated. Do the posts get over the top at times? Of course they do, ever been in an argument in a bar? Are there legitimate points made on either side? regularly. Is there often a reasonable resolution to a problem that may not have happened without us? I think so.

Just my 2 cents worth, your mileage may vary:grin:

az is a community, plain and not very simple...

there is a large amount of good content here.

at times, though, you do have to sift through a lot of ash to find the embers.

but I think it's worth it. :)

best,

This forum and any other like it is what you as a member make of it. In most cases if you act respectfully and you bother to read, understand, and abide by the forum rules you will have no problems. In some cases you get a smart ass answer due to a question asked, however, in more cases than not you will receive a response that will answer the question asked. If you are going to be player on the INTERNET you can't be thin skinned, because if you are the INTERNET Chat forums are not for you.

For those members who find pleasure in insulting / berating others they will last very, along with the Trolls who start threads or make posts with intended drama. I personally feel like this forum is a great place to learn about everything Pool and Billiards related. But with all Chat forums you have to over look those members who add nothing useful and only have some sad desire to act in a negative manner.

When buying and selling things here or on any similar forum you must use caution and take the time to research the person your dealing with, you always can't go by I-trader or reputation.

AZ is exactly what it should be.

Take the crowd from any pool room. Take all the different people and personalities and try to turn that into a place on the internet in your mind.

What do you get? AZbilliards forums.

Not always a pretty crowd of people, but it is what it is.

I can be a "slow learner" sometimes. :o Please don't red rep me! I really can't help it. I am who I am. :sorry: I do mean well! I wish no harm to anyone.

I think this site is great in many ways going from serious to delirious at times.
But i do believe that the site dictates the cue market to a point as it seems to me that alot of collectors use the site so in any given time period a maker seems to get hot or in hotwater(lol) on this site meaning everyone is looking for and paying top $$$ for said cues.
But on the otherhand say a cuemaker has problems with people then it seems the value of their cues drops??? Which i can't understand because if the cues play lights out why should anyone care about the cue maker personaly.....just my rambling thoughts in the early morning hours.......

I can understand what you are saying, but, wouldn't this be a boring place if everyone was and acted the same?

We are just one big melting pot of tards.

There are forums that does not follow this thesis, but I think these are a few -I hope so. F. e. the german forum BA (Billard-Aktuell). It had a crisis due to some legal belongs and afterwards it restructured by a change of the operators. The new operators do not only have an interest on sharing information in an open and objective way in cases where there business could be involved. Mainly the new operators deal with cuesticks and other billard equipment. So that forum more could be described as a family event, zensured and influenced by business interested operators. There are surely other examples of similar forums or similar internet structures where people can only share information in a semi-democratic way, and where the forums are not what members make out of it.

The AZ forum seems to be a free forum like many other forums and most members show a minimum amount of respect ore more, and I didn't recognize a zensus driven by obvious personal interests like mentioned obove. So as I recognize the AZ it is indeed what you make out of it. I wish the AZ to be able to continue this positive way.

I think it is what it is as well.
Many have passed on to something else. years ago the stories of past years were very entertaining to me and I miss that. Things change though.
I had to realize people play pool for many different reasons. Early on I too just loved the game and was content just to practice for 8-10 hours daily. That has changed too and if it wasn't for the money these days, I would not play at all. That is after 42 years of it.
Now I go to a popular room certain nights of the week and it's packed with those who could care less about the money and 80% of that crowd never even heard of a Buddy Hall. That is just life and another perspective.
AZ is a good place to get information, but one should be careful what he asks. The answers often seem just absurd. That is just life again.
It does make me wonder just where the game is headed and what it will be like in another 20 years?

AZ Billiards is the internet.

To quote my friend Joe Rogan:

"The best thing about the internet is that it allows anyone on earth to say what they want. The worst part about the internet is that it allows anyone on earth to say what they want."

Its the wild west out there kids. Defend yourself at all times, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

AZ billiards is.... to me...

a library for pool

a hall of fame

a pool hall w/out the tables

a hall of 'shame'

and a place I like to visit....until it's time to go home....

Like stars that light up the sky; each of us adds a tiny bit of twinkle to the glow of the universe that we call AZB.

Diverse ages, education, back grounds, nationalities, and we can get along or fight like cats and dogs.

Yet, when the crunch comes and one of our members is in trouble and in need of a hand, we stick together like friends and family are supposed to.
We've all witnessed it many times and will many more.

We form lasting friendships even tho most of us will never meet in our life time.
We share thoughts and parts of our lives and experiences thru PMs and email.

I know I have a few friends on my bucket list.

We have many common interests based around pool. We share pictures of our cues and equipment.

We get to droll over our friends new acquisitions and cues and cases hot off the lathe

We cheer each other on in the high times and are sad for each others losses and hardships.

Just think of what we'd be doing if not for AZ.

Probably have more time for cruisin the porn sites. Yes?

I think the OP has raised a very interesting question: you have too, and they are linked.

I'd like to see the board do more to promote the game. I don't know how, necessarily, but the long term health of the game should be an underlying intent, at least.

How can AZB set the strategic direction for pool to take, over the next 20 years? Brothers gotta work it out.

I thought AZ was a free place to promote your products...sometimes 10 times a day or more. Some get away with it and some get banned for it...I don't think thats too cool. Johnnyt

Just like in real life, AZB is what you make of it, not what it makes of you. If AZB was just a free place to sell your goods, I wouldn't be here. If it was nothing more than a place to insult people without getting that busted eye you get by acting the same way in front of a real person...I wouldn't be here. AZB is one of the best forms of communication that has ever taken place in this industry, but there are aways those that see it otherwise.
