40 degree cut without losing the rock. Worst would be seeing people get hurt over stupid stuff.

Saw a guy get stabbed in the chest over whose quarter was up next in a bar. This was when a game was a quarter of course.

Good God, I wouldn't know where to begin! Some things are better left alone and especially not here of all places!

I've seen alot of ugly things, people getting beat up, stabbed almost shot over the smallest things. BUT one of the greatest things ive seen is my 18yr old friends game rising everytime we play.

This kid has overcome some very very hard times in his young life and his outlook for the world/pool hasnt changed a bit. He still loves the game and tells me all the time that the pool table is his sanctuary where he can escape all the things that trouble him. Its refrshing to see someone like that who keeps his head up and his nose clean.

Ps. and he just took 4th place at tournament in wich he should have gone 2 and out in lol i overheard him calling his mom to tell her how well he did.

Worst thing, blood on the ceiling.

best things...Bob Vanover running 9 and out in the finals of the Texas Open....AND.....Earl running 11 racks at CJ's.......pandemonium broke out at both, and many lucky people got to see billiard history and legendary stories to relate.

Well I won't say anything about the worst thing's about pool because those things could happen just walking down the street, you know!.......

all these things can be turned around and made to LOOK ugly, but I awlays try to see the good side of something or anyone!

But some good things about pool are in no certain order :

#1. You can make some of the best friends you ever had, / 4 life
#2. You can gamble with people and lose your money, but some will take you out to breakfast/lunch /or dinner
# 3. You can get invited over for a nights sleep
#4. You can be made to feel at home among strangers/ bar/ poolroom / or wherever
#.5 You are made to feel like royalty if your good at the game/sometimes
#6. You can get staked at a tournament or game if your a square pool player, even if your dead broke
#7. You can always get loaned money if you return it
#8. You can borrow a nice cue stick if you don't mistreat it
#9. You can get a good stir from someone if you give back a good jelly!
#10. You can plan own going through many thousands of dollars, but if you don't put some back/save you'll wake up old and broke, like anything else anyone does !

Maybe I got this all wrong, excuse me.

I saw a guy lose his false teeth on a bet before dinner, so he had soup instead of steak!

The best thing I have ever seen during a match-up between to gamblers was pretty amazing actually. They were playing a race to 9 nine ball for a thousand dollar's. They posted their money on the light above the table which was common at least back in the 70's. The winner forgot to take the money off the light, picked up the balls and when up to the counter to pay the time. A bet sweater slowly walked up and tried to remove the money from the light, and this caught the attention of the gentleman who had lost the match. Who got up and took the money away from the guy, and walked out the door and returned the money to the winner. Now that may not seem like much, but the Pool Hall I grew up in was kinda rough and honesty was not very common. The winner was so happy he gave the guy a $200 tip which is a first class thing to do, under the circumstances.

The worst thing I have ever seen happen was in a Bar during a pool tournament. Like most bars little consideration is taken where seating is concerned, and in this place there was a table at the rack end of one of the tables. This typical non-player gets up and trys to show everyone how hard he can break the balls. Now this place had one of those large magnetic cue balls, so the idiot cues high and slams the rack. The ball flys off the table and hits a women in the mouth and knocks out a couple of teeth. Need less to say, her man gets up and dam near beats this guy to death with cue stick, then they drag the guy out of the place out cold and throw him in the alley. To this day I do not know if the guy survived the event, I mean he was really F-ed up, but if he did I bet he will be careful the next time he decides to show off for a crowd.:)

Take care

Best and Worst

Best thing I have ever seen was the smile on my brides face when we got married in my pool room. Worst thing I have ever seen was the smile on the face of the new owner of the pool room after my wife ran off with all the money.

When I was a young devil dog, I saw a Marine break his opponent's cue. His opponent calmly put his cue back in the case, and then proceded to hit the Marine (with the case) so hard it knocked one of his eyes out of socket.

That is very similar to mine.
I once saw a guy get a hard case upside the head.
I was standing right there too.
It was my case, but no eyes popped out, just ripped the shirt off his back.

Efren's Z-shot

A fight involving pool balls, pool sticks, and thumb tacks. Bloodiest fight I ever saw.

Flying pool balls are very serious stuff. People leave quickly. Saw a girl knocked smooth out from a guy shooting a masse shot as she walked behind him. Hit her in the temple and down she went. Could have been real bad but she was okay. One night a lady who was not really a player was jumping the cue off the table every time she tried to break. We turned around on our bar stools and I caught three in a row! We finally helped her with her breaking skills! Had a lady player tell me one night I could not run into her balls. Those are my balls and you can't move them around. She would move them back! I went along with it. Gotta have fun!

worst & best

Worst: Lying, cheating and scamming of mechanics by pool room owners Like dave egdahl.

Best:Seeing them fail. Like when he tried to free himself from tax obligation by claiming he's crazy and the doctors let him go saying he's not. Beautiful day it was!!

Back in 93 or 94

I saw a 5-6 year old little boy walk up to Earl Strickland with a framed picture of Earl(portrait type) and ask him for his autograph. It was so amazingly cute, that is until Earl said simply "10 bucks". The little boy said "I don't have that" to which Earl said "then I guess you don't get no signature then" and walked off. This was at the Sheraton in Columbia SC, rack em up classic.

The class of a Duck!!

The worst thing I saw was while I was bouncing, an argument over a single damn quarter turned into a 90 man brawl. The first few officers through the door got taken down, so by the end of it we had 5 different police agencies there with about 30 officers. A young 21 year old punk who was home on a weekend leave from the Navy started the whole thing. He made the mistake of hitting my dad (who ran the bar) in the back with a pool cue. Needless to say he didn't walk out of the bar. Guys seem to lose any kind of common sense they may have when it comes to the 3 P's that start 95% of all fights: Pool, p*ssy and politics.

Earl should not be crucified for his actions, as he is no better or worst than the Basketball Great Bill Russell, who I say when they opening the Hyatt in Sacramento yell at a small child seeking an autograph, Russell yelled at the kid he don't sign autographs. Most people knew Bill Russel did not sign nothing for no body.

Best thing I saw was a TD who used envelopes with CASH inside to Pay Player who placed in their tournament, each envelope had the Place & Amount clear written on the outside. It was well organized, everyone who placed got their cash, and the count was correct.
