Meaning, the pool playing family on AZB, members, guest, friends, and readers, what do you like to read about on this pool forum? I would like an honest answer. This thread is all about what the AZB family wants to read about! Please list what you like to read about right here in the AZB main forum! Thank you for your input. All pool related, please!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

You know what kind of thread I love that you don't see anymore?

"How would you play this" type threads with diagrams. In the old days it was easy to share a cue table diagram and people would come up with some good ones.

Now that's broken and so nobody bothers anymore because it takes more work.

I think it's within the power of the people running AZB to make it work again, the diagram website still works. It's just a question of tweaking the forum code to allow it to display the table in a post.

Hello Creedo,
Now that is what I like to hear. Exactly what you the members like to read about. I hope all is well with you! And thanks for such a nice post.

Just depends on the day Lock.
Sometimes I like to just skip pool in a way and just read about someones personal experiences on any given day.

Ya know, I enjoy hearing about other peoples lives, their kids, family gatherings on a Sunday, barb cues, ya know, that sort of everyday stuff. etc.

Doesn't always have to be about pool, right. I have made some very nice acquaintances here, many are on the bucket list.

Wouldn't it be grand if we could arrange a huge AZ weekend in NO at Buffalo. Maybe in Vegas.

Play a lot of pool, bring the kids and wives, take a ton of pictures. Have a weekend that you'd never forget and have a lifetime of memories. In a way, we're all family so it would be like a huge reunion.

Maybe we will even invite Pangit.

I agree Creedo, that little option is sorrily missed. Some good stuff when that was working.

This reminds me of the design your dream thread.

Both threads seem to be fishing for new ideas for new designs/thread topics.

Both threads don't have a prize for the winner. :D

I like to learn new things about any aspect of pool. I notice that these types of threads seem to get lots of hits over the years. I think there are many people who read here who do not post and I suspect they come to learn more about the game.

Review the "views" count on the right side of the front page and it can lead to a pretty good ide of what people like to read.

I agree. I also like hearing about new products...new ideas...or ways of doing things.

I like the less complicated, non-confrontational stories about the experiences of our members. You know, the ones that start with, "Hey, guess what happened at the pool hall today...", or, "My buddy and me were playing pool when...". Stuff like that. Just ordinary stories about ordinary pool players.
And funny shit. I like funny shit, to.

except for improvements in tech (diagrams and pictures) as mentioned in the first post, then change nothing. keep it real and don't inject anything that inhibits the spontanaety (sic) that this forum currently possesses.

Best threads were the how would you play this threads....back when wei table worked.

Oh well.

Strategy and theory were fun back when then too, had plenty of open minds.

Oh well.

I guess my favorite now is the "What is......Name your.....and Why.....threads.

You know.....the I'm bored and have no imagination so I'm just going to ask silly pointless questions, provide no opinion of my own what so ever and then recycle it a week or two later.

:)

I'm a history buff, and I enjoy reading about the people, the players themselves from days gone by, today, and the future generation.

One of my favorite threads -- and I have many -- is the one about Etta James entitled: Minnesota Fats, Muddy Waters, and Etta James

I also liked Newman Calls it Quits.

When I create threads, I try to Google and add a little historical value to the thread for the pool archives. When I'm dead and buried, at least I've contributed to a record of pool for future generations to read. Well, at least that's how I like to think about it.

One thread on this forum was like eating a bag of potato chips. You couldn't read just one post. It eventually got closed, though it was an epic thread for the legacy of AzBilliards Discussion Forum: The Way It Really Went Down.

I'm not sure why, but in forum culture, threads that flame or turn into a free-for-all seem to garner the most attention. :embarrassed2:

I am an active member on my industry forum. We've never had a flame thread or a bashing thread. There are no trolls, and it's a pleasant environment to post in.

Me personally, I also like pictures. I enjoy seeing pool pics, which is why this one may be the all-time great for me: Pool Hall Photos from All Over.

When I'm at any pool event, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be snapping pictures left and right, just like a tourist. :D

I'm a beginner to the game and find the site very helpful. There is actually a smaller-than-usual amount of trolling, sniping and general "jerkiness" on AZ than there is on most other forums. (My other hobby is making/recording music, and you wouldn't believe the pettiness on those forums!)

Favorite threads:
1. As already mentioned, How would you play this shot?
2. History of the game and its more colorful players
3. How to increase the public awareness/participation in pool.
4. Notices about free streams of tournaments, although I wish they'd be posted at least a day in advance. Usually by the time I see them the stream is over.

Lease favorite threads:
1. Pool cue and tip reviews. Like my music hobby, equipment is way over-rated and so subjective that it's hardly worth discussing.
2. Any thread that says "You've gotta have THIS" or "anything less than (the most expensive version of whatever) is worthless.
3. XXX-league is screwed up.

Wachagoinado threads

I agree-those are interesting and fun to hear opinions from established and progressing players alike.

I also like the requests for advice/improvement threads. I like the advice from a variety of experienced players levels, including the instructors. It's like being in the poolroom where opinions are varied and the advice may be suspect.....but ...consider the source.

Sadly, with more frequency-interesting topics-funny and interesting, and helpful responses too often derail far too quickly. There doesn't seem to be much tolerance for different opinions, without namecalling and taunting. These topics rapidly go from assisting to declaring how WRONG---somebody or everybody is. Too often, page 1 is on topic and helpful, but come back a few days later to catch up-go directly to page 3-and often the thread has turned toxic. Sad.

THAT SH1T GETS OLD:mad:

Maybe it's the economy, or the election, or the middle east or the Mayan calender-or something-but, a lack of civility and tolerance for another's opinion seem to have taken it's toll here.

I think we all enjoy pool and want to improve. Apparently, we have trouble talking about it, exchanging ideas and approaches.

When I miss-I have done something wrong. I guess that's all I really need to know.

take care

sorry Lock N Load-it's hard to talk about what we would like to see more of, without thinking about what we could use less of-in my opinion.

I like what you say when you say what you say! Did I say that right Blue? Nice post.

I like the war stories best. I just love it when somebody comes on after an obscure reference to a little known hustler and says, "Yeah... And I was there when it happened", then proceeds to fill in all the details. Makes me feel like I was right there instead of where I really was, which was probably sitting in a boring desk getting a college degree I'd never end up using.

Q/A's:
I'd have to say Mike Dechaine's thread where he was open to answer questions about pool.

AZ'rs Tournament Results (Maybe a sticky thread named: AZ'rs Trophy Wedge [from Brunswick Trophy Wedge cues]):
AZ'rs whom won national events, regional tournaments or local open events.

Industry Leader Threads:
Honest no holds barred OP Threads or comments from those like JCIN (TAR) or industry insiders positively impacting our sport.

Go to the Main forum, go to the columns "views" and "replies", click on each of them and it sorts all the threads since 2003 (at least) by those criteria. You instantly have the answer to your question.
