I'm a history buff, and I enjoy reading about the people, the players themselves from days gone by, today, and the future generation.
One of my favorite threads -- and I have many -- is the one about Etta James entitled:
Minnesota Fats, Muddy Waters, and Etta James
I also liked
Newman Calls it Quits.
When I create threads, I try to Google and add a little historical value to the thread for the pool archives. When I'm dead and buried, at least I've contributed to a record of pool for future generations to read. Well, at least that's how I like to think about it.
One thread on this forum was like eating a bag of potato chips. You couldn't read just one post. It eventually got closed, though it was an epic thread for the legacy of AzBilliards Discussion Forum:
The Way It Really Went Down.
I'm not sure why, but in forum culture, threads that flame or turn into a free-for-all seem to garner the most attention. :embarrassed2:
I am an active member on my industry forum. We've never had a flame thread or a bashing thread. There are no trolls, and it's a pleasant environment to post in.
Me personally, I also like pictures. I enjoy seeing pool pics, which is why this one may be the all-time great for me:
Pool Hall Photos from All Over.
When I'm at any pool event, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be snapping pictures left and right, just like a tourist.
