claiming to be a friend
someone who you traded ivory for cues years ago
someone who is famous for making great cues

promised you a couple of cues in a month 3 years ago and brags about how he doesn't hide but answers his phone and has made the same promise for the cue to be next month each time that you talk to him
but after 4 years still no cue

we are talking about a cue maker who needed money last time he sent me 2 cues and I sold the cues letting him keep all the money

would you expose this cue maker, this hall of fame famous cue maker
or would you sit quietly aside while he lies to you

If my cues are not here in 2 months i will do something appropriate

Cuemaker beware

Just asking for now

What would you guys do?

ps
Sure I hope he reads this and I hope he knows that I sent him his best customer
who bought several big big cues and i hope he knows I am sick of it and he will not be getting any more referrals
for now,but soon I will be forced to tell E

if they knew what he did to me they would be through with him too

I appreciate 100% honesty and commitment for any service I pay for. Do what has to be done. He does not seem too concerned. As for anything outstanding the longer it goes on the longer it will go on. The gap gets wider. Read him the riot act and pull the plug. Time is up.

In my opinion, posts like this are bad for all cue makers. Everyone that comes into this thread can't help but wonder who you are talking about. Then people start throwing out names. Some probably deserved and some that shouldn't have their name or integrity questioned. I think these posts need to stop.

I say call the cue maker in question and communicate your frustration. Give them your time line of when you want the issue resolved. If it's not resolved by the given time, then create your post on AZ letting everyone know who the bad apple is.

Doesn't sound like you've paid any money for these cues yet. If that is the case, then just walk away. Don't ask for them again, don't talk to him again, and don't help him in the future. Problem solved.

Life is too short for drama, especially drama you bring on yourself. Just let it go. Plenty of great cue makers in the world. Not like you were going to keep them anyway so does it really matter?

Now if you've paid money that is a different story and you need to get your money back.

Edit:

I see you traded ivory for them...for some reason I thought that was like evidence of a past deal or something...no idea why I read it that way. That being the case, yeah, out him. Sounds like you’re getting screwed if you made payment on these cues, whether it was in cash or trade.

I know I’d like to know who it is. As I said, there are plenty of great cue makers out there...as such I’d like to stick to doing business only with those with integrity.

Based on your side of the story:

You gave him something in trade for something of his. You are owed. Not to mention what you gave him is material that he is probably putting in cues and selling and making money off of.

I didn't read it that way. The ivory sounded like it was for a previous transaction not these two cues.

I could be wrong. I often am.

Dean your long cue will be ready this month. Hope you sell it soon. It helps my budding reputation for new folks to see my work.

Hello Dean,
I had a similar situation with a well known cue maker. I left an expensive cue with lots of ivory to be refinished. It took forever and cost $350.00. When I went to pick it up from him I noticed cross grain scratches in the forearm. They were not there before.

We got into a heated argument during which he made the statement that they must be in the finish. He told me he'd shoot another coat of finish and the scratches would go away. Guess what the new finish accentuated the scratches and made them look worse.

When I pointed them out again he got even madder. Calmly I told him that our friendship would be over if he did not remove the finish correct the cross grain sanding and finish the cue correctly. I gave him 24 hours to consider whether our friendship meant more to him than one damned pool cue refinish or not. He called the next day, apologized and I brought the cue back to him. He corrected the issue, refinished the cue and we are still friends today.

The one and only reason to out someone publicly is if that person cannot be made to understand the consequences of his behavior.

Good Luck Dean, hoping for a positive conclusion to your problem!

What's the point of talking about this if no one is going to know who it is?

I think all cue makers are being disrespected from post like this, instead of just one.

Either tell all or keep to yourself....IMO.

Good luck

Dean you have two threads about dissatisfaction with Cuemakers .in one you name the State why not just come out and say who it is. Or or wait for it stop with the stupid post !and if it's more than one Cue maker. Maybe you're the problem. OR say who it is or don't Create these threads.

Cuemakers :banghead: lol
Just tell him you want your deposit back, cuemakers from the top of the food chain to the bottom are notorious for getting behind. It doesnt mean they're bad folks, just human and Some do favors for people and thus it takes longer to get a cue. Personally, I am never in a rush and just say ill see'em when I see'em because until they arrive you're not out any money. Any cuemaker worth a pinch of sand knows if a customer backs out they can sell the cue immediately or give it to the next person on the list. What really sucks is when someone walks into their shop and buys your cue, thats when the almighty dollar surpasses common decency.

The only time I would be pissed if I didnt get my cue/s in the aforementioned time, even though I had nothing in them, is if the cuemaker got red hot for a while and by the time my cues came up he was cold as ice and I was stuck with a bunch of high priced tent poles :groucho:
