What's the difference on new Diamonds?

1. The newest versions have a different subrail design- is that correct?

2. And what differnce does that make?

3. And the Diamond logo on the head rail has a blue field rather than a red field- is that correct?

They have redesigned the rails a bit. The new rails with the blue logo have been designed to bank a little longer than the older red logo rails, and to play a little less "springy".

Diamonds newer tables have a beefed up frame, built in leveling system and a few other design upgrades along with ones people have already posted here'

So how will a bank play on a new Diamond as compared to a Brunswick Tournament Edition GC V?

Thanks.

Can anyone get a manual explaining how Diamonds are built and how to set them up? I don't want to do any setting up, just understand the construction and how it's done.

Send a PM to RKC (RealKingCobra)... aka Glenn.

He can answer all of your questions.

I have one set up by RKC, they bank longer than they did. When the cloth breaks in they'll bank perfect cause you wont get the slide from the new cloth anymore. Banks are much more true now.

To my knowledge, there is no such "manual". The Smart Tables and Pro-Am's come assembled from the factory and delivered and installed by a qualified installer who bolts the legs on and levels the table.

The Professionals and home table line get set up similar to most other furniture tables on the market with the exception of Diamond's levelling system.

If you want DETAILED information on how to assemble their tables, I would recommend calling Diamond to schedule an appointment to visit their factory.

I'm not a mechanic but I haven't seen the answer to your first question yet and I can tell you what I understand from having read about it here.

The chief change in the new tables is there was a change in the way the cushions are oriented to the playing surface. The cushions, cushion height, and cushion profile are the same.

Again, this is my understanding. Hope this helps.

I guess I figured by answering the second question, that would logically mean the first answer would have to be 'yes'. :D

By lowering the height but tilting the nose up, the nose height is kept the same while changing how the ball hits the cushion.

When I redesigned the rails for Diamond, I lowered the back of the cushions to be more in line with the nose of the cushions in order to make the cushions less springy and to bank more true. To do this I cot down the sub-rail thickness from 1 3/4" to 1 11/16"ths then raised the nose height back up to 1 29/64"ths...so I didn't change the nose height at all.

This makes perfect sense. Haven't played on one of the remodeled ones yet, but am looking forward to it!

Sorry, I've been on a trip since shortly after the OP but thanks to all for the very useful and informative answers.

I see there are some who seem to agree with what I always thought- Diamonds (the ones with the red logo) bank tighter (less true, IMO) than a Brunswick GC V.

Soooo...... can an older diamond be reworked, or would that be cost prohibitive? My table is almost three years old.

The older (red logo) tables can be re-done to match the newer (blue logo) specs. Cost prohibitive depends on an individual's budget and wether the price is worth the difference in play to that person. If you're interested in a quote, PM me.

looking to try the new rails

Does anyone know of where one can try out the new Diamond tables? I would like to compare my table with the newer tables with the reworked rails.

I am in the Chicago area.
