What's your favorite "pre-game" meal?

Fud

I like for my opponents to eat something heavy and too have a couple of drinks. Or after they get into a match, a couple of hours in, have them order some nice fried something or another. Myself, I like Arnold Palmers with a glass of water on the side.

I try and around 2 hours before heading out to the poolroom, gives time for me to digest and use the restroom if I have to. When I am playing and I need a quick pick me up I try Cliff bars, keep 1 or 2 of these in your pool case, works great. If I know when I am going to play and have an hour of down time which happens then I try to eat a small cold cut sandwich or salad, but do not stuff myself. I had a 3 hour wait this past weekend after losing the hot seat match so I could have done anything and I did, I actually went to a Halloween party down the street and came back and snapped it off.

I have been eating these new bars, the Kind. Take a look, they are great.

Food ...

I can eat most anything, about an hour before, but one of the things I like is an open Roast Beef sandwich served with mashed potatoes and gravy, especially when it is chilly or cold outside. That and a Diet Dr. Pepper suit me just fine.

This is right on..............

For me, eating 1-2 hours before a match is no problem.

If I haven't eaten in a while and am feeling a little fatigues or slightly hungry and I am in a match, I will take one of the Kar's Nutty snacks out of my cue case and munch on that. You can pick up a 24ct pack at Sam's for cheap and the individual packs are small enough to put in your cue case or pocket.

Between matches, I will eat very small amounts of food.

If you really want the particulars of what to eat, when to eat, how to eat, how to train and a myriad of other things that go into competing at pool, you should check out Bob Henning's book, "THE PRO BOOK". It covers practically everything except an aiming system. :D

Between matches, I also eat dried fruit (Mango from Whole Food), bananas and drink LOTS OF WATER.

(Just hope Robley isn't reading this post).

Joey's done his homework. If you want to learn what to do like eat right for pool it's always good to look at someone that is doing it than someone that is just talking.

I don't even have to read this book to tell you that it is the way to go if you want to eat the right stuff and when during a tournament.

Wisdom sometimes is hard to share, unless you are looking you can't even see the light.

Have a great day geno............

DUDE! How much do you weigh? :D

I'm 6'1" and 225 lbs., and at 58+ years old, I still have plenty of muscle, trust me.

You must know that I have tried many different eating routines and the one I find that works best for me is: Two GOOD meals a day and very little-to-none eating between meals. I eat a late breakfast/early lunch around 11:00 a.m. and usually eat supper around 5:30 or 6:00 in the evening. Sometimes I'll have a glass of milk and a few cookies (Cashew Sandies) before bedtime.

Maniac (thanks God daily for COWS!!!)

We must remember people that what works for one may not be well-suited to another. We all have varying metabolisms.

You don't sound fat to me.

I'm 5'11 and 205 but could stand a reduction in body fat. :p

About a year ago, I won a hundred dollars from Jamie Farrell when he said I was within 5 years of his age. :D (And yes, we posted the cash and I kept it).

I can eat 4 times a day without gaining weight. When I go fishing, I get up at 4:00 am and eat HUGE breakfast, then at 8 am, I do it again, 12:00 same thing. About 3:00 pm I eat the last of our "fishing food" and by the time I get home and clean the fish, I am starving all over again.

When I told one of my older pool sparring partners that I was leaving the pool room at midnight to go look for some Hot Tamales to eat, he thought I was joking. :D

I'm old, tired, fat, arthritis, bad heart, grown kids who torture me daily.... Jesus, don't make me be hungry too.

Nothing. I play better on an empty stomach. I keep my throat lubricated with beer tho.
I find that I get sluggish and tired after a meal.
Playing with an empty stomach, I find that I am like a hungry predator, looking for my next kill.

After the tourney or league night is over, then I eat.

for me, I don't eat a meal prior to a match for at least 2 hours, but then before the match in 10-20mins, I would eat a banana, thats pretty much it, maybe a Coffee too.

I'm a pool hall food junky:

French dip w/ fries...............washed down with a Jack & Coke
Cheeseburger w/ fries...............washed down with a Jack & Coke
Chicken sandwhich w/ fries...............washed down with a Jack & Coke
Taco's.............................................washed down with a Jack & Coke
Pizza..............................................washed down with a Jack & Coke

I notice a nice common denominator with your meals there :)

Diet

After much consideration to something I would not normally take into consideration, I decided to watch what I ate before gambling. Yesterday I went to a nice local restaurant about a hour before my match. I had a rich spicy combo plate of chicken rice and double helping of beans with extra garlic. It worked pretty good. Normally we play by the game but yesterday I went along with playing by the set. Right after we began, little bombs started going off each time I was leaving the table. My opponent was so overwhelmed by the fumes, he forfeited.:D:D:D:D

A handful of trail mix and gatorade. Cant play worth a damn after eating a meal, so I keep it light if I eat anything.
