I am a skill level 7 and typically win or cash in local tournaments. Hardtimes is relatively close to me so should I venture out. Take it to money matches or what?

Hard to access someones game based off of 5 league matches. Find out for yourself by going against some of the known players in your area for cheap sets so you can get your feet wet. You'll find out real quick where you are in the pecking order.

Yes, with those stats I would go on the road with my life savings.

I agree with Cdryden... But that beig said... As a general rule, if you have to ask if you are an A player... Then you're not an A player.

Also...It is hard to tell if you are playing APA or not.. but if you are, then you might be an A player if you've won all those matches by blanking your opponents.

An A player should be able to come close to blanking even a slightly sandbagging 6 in most APA regions.

Where are you located? That has a lot to do with it.
Play in some bigger tourneys or match up and see where your at.
If you live close to my area or are going to be in the area let me know and we'll set something up

It's impossible to judge based on the numbers you report...are you saying you had 2 break and runs total in 5 8 ball matches? At SL 7 how many games per match are we talking? I'd say an A player would have at least that many (2) EACH match, if not more, especially if you're on a BB; even on a 9 footer, I'd expect an A player to average 2 or more B/R in 8 ball in a handicapped race to 5 or more. When I played APA back in the 80s, a SL6 was usually good for 2 B/R in a race to 5. (of course, back then, SL6 was the max you could have, the weekly franchise leader was the only SL7 allowed in the system at any time).

Okay to clarify, I have had 2 break n runs in 3 matches, my first two matches I get the credit for winning but not the points because I handn;t updated my membership. I am playing in the Northern Nevada area. i have played some top guys from here and don't think I am far away. I'd say 8 ball i could beat the ghost 5/6 out of 10. I know there is differing levels of "A" player. I played tournament ehre and was a B but after first round match they moved me to A. I want to start playing biger tournaments but not to get ran over, would like at least a shot.

Yes it is tough to gaugue or own game more than others. Statistics fotne just do not tell the story. It could be just oe little flaw that prevents us from making the jump. PLlo is about repittions and hours and hours of hard work.
I have know some who worke tirelessly at ta game ony to get frustrated and give up when I felt they were improving.
The cheap action can be one way to go, but think of what that could cost versus a good intructoer. Then you have to decide which is most beneficial for you and where you want to tke the game.
NOt many are Cj Wiley whoa was a prodigy and did well at most any athletice endeavor. Every one has different tlents and skill from within the game. It alway slloked so easy for Cj and for me, it pissed me off. Now iave gotten old and ful circle to whare I began.
Hang in there and work at it, Believe in yourself ana do't shy from the work. Almost every one has been there at some point.
Handle tha activities, resluts will come.

The only way to know the answer to the question is to play against high level competition.

It isn't possible to evaluate a person's pool game based upon how they type.

Am I A player? What should I do next?

Ironic, I've asked myself that same question.:D

What I'd call a B player cannot beat the 9b ghost in a long race (let's say, race to 11 or higher).
What I'd call an A player can beat the 9b ghost in a long race (and sometimes the 10b ghost)

That's a pretty simple test... do a race to 15 vs. the 9b ghost. If you feel you're having a 'normal day'
and don't beat the ghost, you're not an A player yet.

If you're wondering how to get from B to A, or A to AA... that depends on the player. Some have
the runout skills but fold under pressure. Some lack certain important knowledge and just shoot
super straight, or they have holes in their kicking and jumping. Some have a little problem in their
fundamentals that causes the occasional missed ball.

The #1 best way to figure out what's holding you back?
Get an instructor. $100 spent with the right instructor is BY FAR a better way to improve your game
than $100 worth of sets or tournaments. An instructor should spot whatever the issue is.
