Where is Patrick Johnson?

PJ is one of those guys that HAS to be the smartest person in the room.
He just couldn't stand to be wrong or over-shadowed.
So, when he was being trounced in argument, instead of graciously bowing out, he would start slingin' $hit.
Often, he is the smartest person in the room ... although, not usually the most tactful and sensitive.

And as you point out, he doesn't like being wrong ... like most of us.

Regards,
Dave

I've certainly learned some things from him over the years; although, I was never wrong. :grin-square:

It's ironic how people of questionable intelligence are incapable of recognizing the intelligence of someone who is actually intelligent.

On that same note, you can't make someone who is of questionable intelligence, UNDERSTAND, that they are of questionable intelligence.:D

that is soo funny....

Forget it, not worth the effort...

Jaden wins...I don't understand that post at all :D

J/K man, I have no dog in this fight.

PJ was/is an interesting character. He made a lot of discussions more entertaining than they would have been.

He made me want to bang my head into the wall at times, but overall, I enjoyed reading his posts. I didn't agree with him often, and I didn't care for some aspects of his posting style, but he was a pretty good contributor both in the Main forum and NPR.

He was a longtime regular, and I think the regulars are what make this place great. Getting to know someone through their posts over several years paints a clear enough picture to feel like you know the person. I would trade 30 newbies to have PJ's refreshing, infuriating arrogance back on the board.

Smart or not, fair debate methods or not, PJ sort of lacked something important. There's a certain amount of give you need to have to participate in forums. That can mean admitting it when wrong, or gracefully bowing out of an argument, or agreeing to disagree, or just deferring to the mod when warned. He just won't do these things.

You can be the smartest guy ever, but forums are a social thing too. You can't just stay in people's faces because you're convinced you're absolutely right and the other guy's an idiot. And you especially can't be Cool Hand Luke with Mr. Wilson or Jerry.

If he's got his head right, I'd welcome seeing him post again.

I happen to think that PJ, Spidey and Superstar are all interesting contributing members to this forum. You don't always have to agree with everyone but everyone has something to say, and when it's in the written word who knows how it'll come out. These 3 might get along great in person.

"Interesting" to say the least...lol.

Nah, like most liberals, he's incapable of carrying on a political discussion without resorting to name calling.

It will be interesting to see if his time out helps.

This appears to be typical conservative rhetoric !!!!
