any suggestions? looking to do it on the cheap! real cheap if ya get me. if it's cheaper to rent a car and sleep in it i'm down with that.

Circus Circus is one of the cheaper hotels on the strip. It is around $30 during the week, I think.

When are you going?

I recommend staying on Fremont Street at the Golden Nugget. Just got back. Great hotel and generally on the cheaper side. You can always take a cab if you want to spend some time on the strip.

the main airport, mccarren is the only place to fly into. vegas is in teh middle of the desert. there's no other major city remotely close to it.

Fly right into Vegas, there is no where else. If you are really looking to do it on the cheap then I would stay at Circus Circus. It is directly across the street from the Riv so no cabs, buses, or long walks. It is easily the most convenient (not best) hotel to the tournament besides the Riv itself.

Circus Circus

Staying at Circus Circus for 4 nights from Friday Night thru Monday Night and it only cost $144.00 + Southwest Flight from Denver to Vegas = $332.00 for total. I won $340.00 from my league so worked out pretty sweet.

2 years ago I took an APA team to Vegas. We stayed at the Sahara. It is 50 years olf & looks every bit it's age. The carpets needed replacing. The furniture was old. The food was bad & I would not recommend staying there. It is also pretty far away from the tournament...JER

Last May the Circus was $23 a night during the week and $53 weekends.
If you stay further away from the Riv, you can buy 24 hr bus pass on the Deuce (double decker) for $7. It takes you up and down the strip.

Sam...Circus Circus is usually the cheapest place to stay, near the Riv (they tore down all the other close cheap places)...however, you will likely walk almost as far from where you'll stay in CC to the tournament room at the Riv; as you will, walking from the Sahara (which, as said earlier, is old, but imo better rooms than the CC). Try www.getaroom.com; I got rooms there (at Sahara) for less than $25/night, except on Fri/Sat, when they were $40. Don't know about airfare, but it will be cheaper from Oakland, than Sactown...so you have to figure in driving there and back, plus parking (unless you have someone drive you to the airport). Cab rides are not cheap in Vegas, but all the hotels have shuttles from the airport. For cruising the strip, the trolley mentioned, is cheap, and cruises the entire strip, but it is slow, because it stops every 2-3 minutes. Good luck, and stop in to the BCA instructor room (Capri rooms) and say hi! :D BTW, sleepin' in a rental car doesn't work too well, for more than a night (maybe two)...plus you have to figure the 6-8 hr drive each way, + rt gas). You'll need a shower in that heat!

I haven't stayed there before....but the stratushere...has a special right now if you book through expedia which gives you rooms for $29 per night.

I'm also setup to stay at the Circus Circus from May 17th-22nd. Sharing with a buddy. $105 TOTAL! this includes the $25 resort fee. I got a $50.00 coupon from Orbitz to the get it to this price. Now that's cheap! One note, request the Main Tower. This is the closest tower to to entrance so you don't have to walk through the whole hotel to get out. Don't stay at the manor; in the back and horrible rooms. Here's a link of the floor plan for reference: http://www.circuscircus.com/images/shared/cclv_map.pdf. For a flight, I use http://www.kayak.com/flights for price comparison. I travel so much for business, so I just used Delta miles. Good luck!
Cheers, Mark

you better get a room at the front or you DO have a very long walk

I know the rooms in the back are a shlep but I would think in any event the CC is a shorter walk than just about any other hotel.

In Vegas just about any hotel across the street from where you are is closer than one next door.

theres a new hotel in the east parking lot of rivera, does anyone know anyting about it,i dont need a room anymore as i bought a condo in las vegas country club by hilton.Whenever i stay in vegas always stayed at rivera, sometimes i paid more, sometimes i got a deal but nothing beats walking downstairs anytime you want to play game or minis or somebody or just to watch money matches

AVOID CABS UNLESS YOU REALLY HATE YOUR $$$$, YOU GOT A BETTR SHOT BEATING JA THAN NOT GETTING ROBBED BY A CAB DRIVER.
