who is the best in TX?

Depends.... why?

What game? You mean from Texas or resides in, only plays in Texas? Double J and Hillbilly are from Houston, if that tells you anything.

What happened to CJ Wiley? He was a very good player 8 to 10 years ago and he didn't look very old at the time so he shouldn't be too old to play. I heard he owns a ph right? Did he decide to quit playing and focus on his business instead?

Yup, as well as open up a new business (not focused around pool). He still owns a pool hall, just doesn't compete anymore.

I think I would vote for Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant as the best 9-ball player in Texas in the year 2005. No matter what the format -- winner racks, alternate break, loser racks -- he's a formidable opponent and is consistent.

Some players excel in winner-rack formats and can string a 6-pack together, making it look quite easy, but can't seem to excel in a loser-rack format. Charlie Bryant plays well in all 9-ball formats, and there is no question he's got one of the best breaks out there.

Now, if you're talking about one-pocket, I'd have to think about that one for a while! :p

Again, I love your avatar, 1pRoscoe. That pooch is a real cutey pie, especially those puppy eyes! :)

Too bad for pool because he was a very good player!

They're both cute, but I'm kind of partial to the fellow on the right. He's got such personality!

Molly is the Great Dane and Dakota is the Sheppard/Rot mix.

Jim

Sylvar Olchoa

Sylvar Olchoa from Mccallen tx is good. He beats C.B. and J.J. from time to time. He wins alot of fast eddies tour events.

Looks like Molly and Dakota live the good life in the Jhendri2 household. :)

Last Halloween, I left my front door open, so that I could hear the trick-or-treaters when they came a knocking. A group of 6- and 7-year-olds tapped on the storm door, and my 120-pound black lab Sammy came barreling full speed ahead like a buffalo to greet them. The young tikes screamed in fear. Then Keith appeared in the doorway with his Frankenstein costume on, and they screamed even louder (LOL). :D

On topic of the thread, I like Sylver's one-pocket game and David G's, but I wouldn't place them over Charlie Bryant when it comes to 9-ball.

Evidently ...

Everyone has forgot about Joe Salazar, a nice guy, good
cuemaker, and a darn good player.

Umm, you must have a pic of Keith in that getup to post....

Not too long ago the best in Texas in my opinion were Gilbert Martinez and Bob Vanover. Other notables were Smokey Bartlett, Leroy Mathis and Lefty Bastrop. Things change, but Gilbert Martinez was truly impressive and I would have a hard time thinking he still couldn't hang with anybody around.

We sure did have a lot of candy left over at Halloween. Not too many brave young souls came a knocking. LOL! :D
