Is it Joe Rogan?

How would he match up playing to average short stop or B level road player...say Brandon Shuff speed or less?

Does anyone know if Tony Stewart plays a decent speed? I had heard he hung out with Shannon, but never really heard if he could play himself.

if you count poker players, then john hennigan, josh arieh and daniel negraneu can hold their own.

This has been covered before, but by far the best is Mark Kendall, lead guitarist with 'Great White'. Unless you consider Bill Marop a celebrity. Then I'd go with Bill.

Have to admit that I don't recognize all nominated thus far. But the best ACTOR I ever saw, bar none, when it came to convincing an uninitiated audience that he was a good player, was an older man named Jack Albertson. (He's best known for "The Subject Was Roses.") He played the hustler's role on both "Gunsmoke" and "Ironside", and was totally believable both times, with flawless fundamentals. GF

Back in the 1960's Gleason used to play at the Congress Bowl in North Miami. I believe He had a Condo in North Miami. At the time this was the Money Hall in Miami with lots of action. Gleason used to win his fair share. I have seen Gleason play 3 cushions there also. By the late 80's when I came back to Florida, Congress Billiards had moved out of the bowling alley and on Hwy 441 in a strip shopping mall with a strip club at the other end. But Congress Billiards was nothing of what it had once been in the 60's. I am not sure if Congress Billiards is even open today.

BTW Congress Billiards had 6 X 12 snooker tables with the tightest pockets I have even seen.

Dorian Harewood who was a co star with Whoopie in "Kiss Shot", used to watch me play pool at UC in Cincinnati after I got out of the service and went back to college. Little did I know at the time, He was doing a character study and would go back to his dorm and act like me. I saw him using my moves in the movie. But he is not a Player.

Mark is a decent shortstop, probably the best "celebrity" player currently active. Johnny "World" Hennigan, who is a poker celebrity was a better player, probably better even than Brandon. John was playing high dollar 9-Ball at age 19 and 20 with good players. AND WINNING! Mark is at least one speed below Brandon, who is better than a shortstop in my book.

Joe Rogan could be a decent shortstop himself, if he wasn't so damn busy with all this other stuff. He has a nice stance and stroke, just no practice time. Amazing how success has ruined many a pool career.

Didn't Minnesota Fats have a short lived TV show where he played celebrities? Seems to me I watched one show where Kris Kristopherson played Ralph and either beat him or gave him a run for his money. Kris is a pretty phenomonal guy in his own right too.
It was along time ago and I may have been dreaming.

Edit: I Googled it. The show was called Celebrity Billiards and Ralph hosted one show. I guess that must have been the show I watched.

Back in the 70's Peter Graves and the lady that played Manix's secretary was very good. I don't remember her name.

Willie Nelson definitely plays pool. In fact, where he grew up in Texas, his grandparents owned a pool hall, where he first learned how to play.

Currently, there's a museum in Nashville that has a Willie Nelson display, to include one of his pool tables. In fact, Willie used to sneak in the beer joints in Nashville, hoping to mingle with the crowds and play pool. He loved it! He and a good friend of mine played pool together, and my friend said Willie's got a good stroke and a little game in him. :grin-square:

I am still trying to get my hands on a picture of the Rolling Stones pool tables with the hand-carved legs that looked like a big fat tongue. LOL They used to have it as a stipulation that at all their gigs, a pool table would be set up in the green room for their pleasure. The reason they had two tables with tongue legs was so that they could break down the table in one town, and in the next town, the table would already be set up upon their arrival. I'm not sure how good they played, but they did love pool!

Here's Willie Nelson's table at the museum in Nashville depicted below.
