Who is the top player in your state?

I second that...

Any guesses for PA?? I know Jim Rempe used to be in Scranton (maybe still is), and the Fusco's in Philly... but I'll go out on a limb (and withstand the flaming) and say the best 9-ball player recently is Brett Stottlemeyer. Won the state championships last year and is beating a lot of top pros. Took Archer to the hill in an 11-game set in Valley Forge.

Mike Davis is the "pro" from MD, and probably the best all-around player, but Id have to say that Jerry Slivka is the best, at 9ball at least. For whatever reason, on the planet 9ball tour that all of these players play in, Mike never does that well. He's lucky to make it in the top 10 in any one of those tournies.

As far as Brett being the best in PA, that's surprising. I didn't know he played that well. He's another regular on the planet 9ball tour.

Thats close,

Off the top of my I head I would say:

Denver Barger
Jeff Beckley
Josh (can't think of the last name)

They all play pretty sporty, in tournaments and for the dough.

Josh Ulrich is the one I mentioned, but I don't know how well he plays anything other than tournaments. Just going by what I was told. Very good at 9-ball and 10-ball.
I don't think Denver has been playing much lately, But to round out a top 10

Jeff Beckley
Denver
Waldo
Josh
Strong arm John
And I'm somewhere close to that mix
There are a lot of unknown players thru Indiana who can be in there somewhere I'm sure. I don't get down to southern parts of the state or the far north. I don't mean to offend or kill anyones action. These guys are all pretty well known, so I don't think it hurt too much. Just my opinion.

As it should be, Sam. After all, Ted Williams, did not put himself in his list of top ten hitters of all time either, LOL.

Reminder on PA

Dont forget Pat Mcnally plays in PA... He played Tony Watson even for $20,000. So he plays pretty sporty.... Eddie Abraham is also from PA..
I would have to go with Pat.... Sorry Brett...

Stottlemeyer? He sux!!;)

And, IIRC, Shawn Wilkie won the PA deal last year

Don't forget about Ernesto Dominguez in California. One of the best players in CA, IMO. I met him a while back, and he is the nicest player I have met. Ismael "Morro" Paez is really good too, but I think Ernesto still runs more racks.

I would still put Billy Palmer and Parica ahead of these players, but that is nothing against Morro and Ernesto because they are "world class" for sure. These four players and Kim are all pretty close when it comes to 9-ball. I guess it sounds like Chohan has moved to Detroit; I wish him success!!! I think he can be one of the best in the world and he's easily top 15 in one-pocket. I'm glad I got to watch so much of Tony's game and got to play him. He's one of those players that just makes pool look so easy. To bad it's not:mad: !

I cant remember for sure but thought that Dee Adkins was from Indiana also and where ever he's from he can be added to the best of state for sure.--Leonard

:D Jamie Farrell, no one even close in Louisiana. :D :p :D
Last I heard, Jack Cooney was livin' in your parts. Has this HOF caliber player become easy pickin's?

And BTW, once witnessed him make the best shot I ever saw in an 8-ball game...cue frozen to center of head rail (thanks to opponent's safety)...eight on center of foot rail with opponent's object balls blocking banks to both corner pockets...his opponent made the mistake of laughing at his predicament...He cut the damn thing in...and those of us who knew Jack, KNEW he was going to make that shot.

Off the top of my head the following come to mind:

Chris Loar
Matt Clatterbuck
Jim "Shorty" Henson

I think you gotta scratch #3 for Brandon Shuff. Or maybe put Matt down 2x:eek:

I haven't read much about Shorty in recent times.

I hear there's a Virginian player by the name of Walter Koch who can play a pretty mean game of pool, too! :p

Don't forget about the Virginia State 9-Ball Championship coming up right around the corner in Richmond. Hope to see you there, Black-Balled!

I haven't seen Pat McNally in recent times, but last time I did, he was working full time as a postal carrier, I think. Before that, though, he was shooting pool on a more regular basis on the tournament trail, and he did have a pretty good stakehorse, one with very deep pockets, which enabled Pat to strut his stuff.

Eddie Abraham is definitely a great player, and let's not forget Gary Nolan, the Bushwhacker. Though he ain't originally from Pennsylvania, he hails there now, and he is definitely one of the good guys and will go down in the history books as a great American player.
