I would like to see Joey in the booth with Jimmy Mataya, haha, that would funny stuff. :grin-square:

This isn't the first time someone has suggested that I team up with Jimmy Mataya. Unfortunately, I have never met Jimmy, nor have I heard his voice but others think that there will be some chemistry there.

I have several "new" people that I want to do commentary with and now Jimmy Mataya has been added to my "A" list.

Grady is the best of the rest. Its like he trys to make sure, you understand whats going on without taking down.

I, for one, like the bickering......some of the most hilarious moments I've experienced with the Accu-stats tapes is when they are getting on each other's cases.........

That is my point too.

I like Grady knocking Billy, and then Billy knocking Grady.

Doesnt get better than that.

Ken

Grady is my pick. IMO the 'Howard Cosell" of the Pool Commentators.

Danny D is a very close 2nd.

Both have the voice that is very recognizable and so intelligent about the game and able to convey to all levels of players what is happening on the table.

There is a new breed of commentator on the internet streams. So far, there are only a few that would even be considered 'honorable mentions'.

Mostly the Stream commentators are only as good as the guest commentators like Jeremy Jones and Nick Varner.
I agree with you.

Grady is my first choice and Danny D. is my second and you can't beat a match with Grady and Danny together. I have well over 100 Accu-stats videos and i've listened to all of the commentators. I like Buddy Hall a lot also and I think he adds a lot with his knowledge and comments. As far as learning things about the game i've learned more from Danny D. with his insight on what to do during the matches.

I like Bill Incardona, Buddy Hall and Nick Varner best...

I really like Danny D. also for game and shot analysis, but when he needs to fill dead air he tells the same stories and makes the same comments over and over and over...

That is my only ding against him...

I think that what makes both Grady and Cardone great is that either can be be the color commentator or the lead commentator. Most of the other names are great color commentators, but wouldn't work as the lead so well.

I also think that what make JoeyA so good in the booth is that ability to be the lead commentator and pull the maximum out of the guest commentator (in terms of providing more color).

Honorable mention...

NOBODY lit up the booth like Johnny Ervolino. He was one of a kind!

I love Jimmy Mataya's energy. He was fun with it. It's a peppy broadcast with him on the mic. Jay's has good energy too with a ton of knowledge. You can tell what a huge fan of the game he is. I like that.

Ken shuman

Ken has been doing commentary at Derby, US Bar Table, TAR and some others. His perspective, knowledge and delivery are superb.

Ken is the Tournament Director of the US Open, Derby, Galveston World Classic and others.

who the hell voted for bill incardona. he's always trying to force himself to sound smart and well spoken. it's distracting

Billy Incardona is one of the most articulate commentators. He always seems to call the right shot too.

I remember sitting in the bleachers by the TV table one year at the U.S. Open. There was a vacant seat next to me. In fact, there was a lot of vacant seats. :o

Anyway, Billy came down and sat next to me. What a thrill to have a blow-by-blow private commentary of the TV table match. I really enjoyed it.

Another thing that I admire about him is that I have not heard one curse word fly out of his mouth. He's a genuine gentleman, 24/7, at least around me. I find myself having to tone down the curse words I spew out from time to time when I'm in his presence, dag nab it!

I ended up voting for Grady Mathews for a couple of reasons, the main one being that I know how passionate he is about pool, and it comes out in his broadcast.

Grady can be a little spicy when he wants to. I think I may have one of the very rare copies of the Accu-Stats X-rated DVDs in which Grady was commentating. The first time I heard it, I couldn't stop laughing. The two pool players that he is commentating about couldn't hear what he was saying at all. That's what makes it even funnier. :grin-square:

It's a shame that we can only pick one. I like many commentators, and there are some who aren't listed that I really enjoy.

Some days, I enjoy hard rock music on my CD player in the car, and then there are other times that I'm into Barry White. My heart, though, is strictly bluegrass when it comes to music. That said, I like all music, and I wouldn't want to listen to bluegrass 24/7. I like variety.

I think that's how I feel about the commentating. Diversity is good! :)

I love the interaction between Billy and Grady, specially when they disagree. Which is often! I also really like when Kim Davenport commentate's. I think he does a real good job!
