Who Makes the Best Sneaky Petes

Bob Frey gets my vote and Rick Howard PJs.

Bob Frey has mine as well....several times:thumbup:

My best hitting sneaky is a PFD-built Mark Bear blank cue. Of course I have not hit with a lot of others ... yet :)

Who makes the best sneaky pete?

PLAYERS, plays very good and a little over 50 dollars. For 4 or 5 hundered dollars more you can get a different sneaky that plays very good with someones signature on the bottom. :)

IMO, Tim Scruggs sneakies are the best sneakies out there. For decades, they were sought after, and now some command $600+ with only one shaft. Even now, with the up and coming cue makers, Scruggs sneakies are a preferred choice by discriminating players that know.

That being said, you won't be able to get a new one, as he doesn't make them anymore. BUT, Bob Frey does - and Bob made many/most of the sneakies that have a TS logo on them.

Do a search here and RSB if interested on Tim/Bob's sneakies. They are worth every penny.

For a stiff hit SP in that price range, I'd check out Josey first. With one shaft it might be in your price range. Joss makes a solid, stiff playing SP for $200 - tuff to beat for the money. Good luck with your search.

Otherwise with a larger budget: Scruggs ---> http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=230557

subjective but, or even butt...

Scruggs, Diveney, Buss, Romero, and here's a wild card:

Craig Rittel (az= Manwon) of Full Splice Billiards.

He made me a sneaky out of a 1920's - 1930's Brunswick full splice that plays as good as any I have ever used.

Best,
Brian kc

got my 2nd mcdermot for 80$ (first one was stolen). swap between an olney/predator/mcdermot shafts, I got a cue I could give 2 craps less about that hits great and if someone thought they needed to steal it... bleh I'll buy another.

I am piggybacking off of another thread i just saw titled who makes the best plain janes. I am a sneaky pete fan so i thought id give it a shot. I would like to get my hands on an old benson sneaky but i doubt that would happen. So who makes a great STIFF hitting sneaky that doesnt cost over about $375 with 2 shafts? I know im a cheapo. So where can i get the best bang for my buck? Also pics are very welcome here. Thank you.

I have a bonner that plays great. Dz makes a good one, Joey Bautista if you can find one. New under 375 with two shafts is going to be hard to find. Lil Al is another fine choice.

I have nice one that was given to me by Remy, made by Doug Patrick. I'd recommend Doug to anybody. He makes a very nice cue.

How about this one?

$350.00!

It's a new line of sneaky's we are showing for the first time at the BCAPL tourney in a week or so.

It comes with your choice of OB shaft.

OB-1
OB-2
Classic
Classic Pro
OB Break

But only one of them for that price.

That's some nice bocote. And with your choice of shafts, this is a great deal.
Classy looking cue.Nice job Royce.Good Luck with the sales.

Best Wishes,

Steve

I would have to go with Bob Frey, since Scruggs is not making cues anymore. I shoot with my Frey on league night and my Scruggs when playing elsewhere

Meucci.

A true Sneaky Pete and it costs around 2 bills. Only one shaft tho.

Played with mine for around 15 years and still hits and rolls like day one.

dumpster dive, I know.

When I was selling cues I always liked the sneakey petes by Pechauer & Joss. Both of those always came with the most gorgeus woods, and were always very consistent on the quality of construction and hit. I always considered them a good value.
