Who was the best pool player you ever played in your pool career?

Toby Sweet in Spring Valley, N.Y. In the late 1960's.
It was more like racking than playing ,he was that good

When I was stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo Texas, there was a USO Trick Shot Artist named Jack White. He was white-haired and rotund. The man was not only a decent trick-shot artist, he taught me how to play a game called "Last Pocket" after I won the mini tournament we played there. Very nice man and way beyond the pall of any I've ever played. This was back in 1990.

These days,I live in Seminole/Largo Florida and I have played most of the best in the region over the last two years. Best player here is likely Bobby Gonnelly. Plays League once in a while to stay in the game and will play for money. Taught me a bit about shot making. He can run hours worth of racks without any misses. Best I've seen these days. Never met a bonafide Pro.

The Man

I was lucky enough to be able to play both Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer in a class I took at Bogeys in North Houston. I am not an amazing shooter and I didn't win, but I had the greatest day of my life learning to shoot from 2 of the best.

3 best beatings I ever took

I have not played alot of Pros but i have had the pleasure of taking a beating from a few

1. Tommy Sanders best player that i played with on a regular basis , ( from age 16 to age 30 i think there only 3 games in my Win Column against Tommy)

2. Vivian Villareal she drug me 11-4 even , and 11-7 giving me the 8 ( 1990)

3. Efren Reyes , July of 2013 Angeles City Phillipines Paid him 500 pesos to play him three games and never shot , best 500 pesos i ever spent ( about 12 dollars )

Efren comes into the Blind Beggar in Angeles City when ever he is home and plays anyone there 3 games for 500 pesos , you pay him win or lose , hell the room is full to the brim and the players line up for hours to play him. Great Guy and Fun as hell to watch

Many here may not know who Tommy Sanders is.

He is from Beaumont,TX and once upon a time he was considered as good as CJ. During his hey day, CJ was a powerful Player in USA.

Long list been playing a long time. Steve Oaks, Billy Aquero, Reed Pierce, Johnny Archer, Buddy Hall, Eddie Burton, Tony Watson, and the list goes on still playing

Many here may not know about steve oaks.He is from Indianapolis area. In 80s he was a Middle Tier Pro when he was ranked around 20th in those days.

Thanks to the All About Pool Tour; Joss Northeast Tour and the Tri State Tour I got to play Mike Zuglan, Joe Tucker, Rob Saez, Luc Salvas, Boston Shorty, Larry Lisciotti, Frankie Hernandez, Ginky, Bill Dunsmore, and Danny Basavich (off the top of my head). I lost to all but one of them. And I managed to beat that one 9-1. Still remains the highlight of my pool playing career.

When my team was in Vegas for the ACS nationals in 2011 I struck up a conversation with a friendly chap from Chicago named Ike while my team was practicing the day before the tournament started. We played a few games to pass the time, all of which I was close but lost in the end. I had no idea who he was at the time but I later found out it was Ike Runnels, one of the better road players in the country.

Very nice man and a class act all the way.

Ronnie Alcano, Ralf Souquet, George Breedlove, Karl Boyes, Jason Shaw, Mark Tadd, Quinten Hann, Fu Jian Bo, Pan Xiao Ting. Quinten was the best I've seen in pure talent for any game. I've heard Appleton and Melling rate him as the best UK 8 baller they've ever seen.

Simeng Chen is the best pool player I have ever played. A close 2nd would be Justin Bergman.

I've played some other strong players before too such as Mike Davis Jr., Gene Albrecht, Tommy Tokoph, Nick Tafoya to name a few.

I got a fair amount of practice racking for Gene Albrecht about 15 years ago. I got to shoot once or twice, too.

In the early 1990's I got double steered into playing Santos Sambajon getting the 7. Lost $300 and he never ran out. He shot mostly combos.

Then I let my buddy play him and we lost another $500.
