What I think is gonna happen is alot of people are gonna take their shot at the challenge match format and might stick if they sell the story behind it like UFC does, just throwing 2 top players in the box and uploading the video isnt enough, there has to be a story some sort of drama, the bet is one part of that, but if the $$ is 10K guaranteed and there isnt a bet the players will chop it up and its an exibition, thats not action, So there has to be a story line, kinda like the SVB and Alex games leading up to the big race, that will sell. Following events trying to capture live action is too expensive, but staging action wont sell if it feels phony like the Earl, Archer thing a few weeks ago.
The guys who put together the matches, interviews(not dull boaring ones) but i'm gonna shoot his nuts off attitude interviews and sell the sizzle not just the steak will win in the end, The TAR guys have the support of the internet community because they are great guys, i'm proud to call them my friends, that support will give them some traction but like boxing, UFC etc. there has to be drama, look at the fights at the press conferences for boxing that generates interest and more PPV buys, the fight that are just fights dont sell as well,
Because it isnt real hard to get 2 top players in a room with a camera and commentary I think there will be several groups of guys who attempt to do what the TAR guys did first(far as I know). Its the guys who make it the most interesting that will make a business out of it, look at porn it isnt that complicated, the successful production companys have better looking girls, HD, what ever it takes to make it better than the other guys in the biz, the distribution in our case (pool) will take care of itself, since TAR is a step ahead they should win the race.
