Joey, at this point it's quite possible that there may not even be an event. It's been a month since the Reno tournament and the players have yet to be paid.

I wouldn't expect too many players to show up if they go ahead with the event but haven't paid the players. My way of thinking would be... if they can afford to pay for the venue and all the amenities, they can sure as heck afford to pay the players. Besides, who wants to front the cost of getting there and staying in a hotel all week when they haven't been paid for doing the same thing in Reno? At best a few Americans would show up but I seriously doubt any of the foreign players would want to foot that kind of bill again, only to get stiffed, again.

If the players get paid and the event happens, the entrants will consist of the 150 IPT members only. They're not holding qualifiers for this event, this is a members only event. ;)

umm.......ok.

Oh... My laughter wasn't clear enough?

Okay, then..

Who on earth would go to the trouble of even booking a hotel, let alone a rental car and flight if you live far from Chicago, when the players from Reno have not even gotten paid yet? And might never get paid? All while KT is still selling videos, merchandise, and streamed matches online?

Laying out money for these expenses when you don't even know if the tourney is gonna go off? And when you are pretty sure that Kevin Trudeau won't let the world know if it was cancelled, or would only tell us within a few hours of tourney start time?

Any pool player from outside Illinois that shows up for the Chicago IPT stop is a stone cold moron. Unless everyone gets paid before then. In that case, if they show up and play before getting the prize fund in escrow, THEN they are stone cold morons.

Some will probably travel there anyways, out of desperation, though. I'd be really surprised if more than about 50 IPT players showed up. They have better things to do than hold a fake tourney which KT can sell streaming video online for, with no promise of them actually recieving any of the procedes.

I go so far to say the IPT is officially dead if BIG CHECKS don't start getting cashed before Chicago.

Russ, I think it's evident that Joey wasn't up to speed on all things IPT. I know Joey and I know that he doesn't get a chance to get on here often. There are also quite a few people that only read the main forum.

Oh.. Well, my bad then..

I'll bring him up to speed.

JOEY.. Kevin Trudeau has not paid anyone from Reno yet. He has not said WHEN he will pay anyone from Reno yet. The IPT has promised multiple times that the check were "already in the mail".

Obviously, this was a lie. So... I don't see Chicago happening unless a LOT of money starts showing up in a lot of people's bank accounts.

That being said, sorry for the harsh response. I though you were in the know, and might have been trolling. I apologize.

Yeah, but its so easy to criticize and make fun of others , because there seem to be allot of posters that know so much more than everyone else, may be they know more than the rest of the world too Batman. I just see it as a lack of maturity and someone who just needs to grow up.

Well, just remember, Island.. you made it personal.

First of all, I reviewed a lot of your posts after your comment, and saw you have a habit of being exceedingly careful in your responses to others. Don't want to offend anyone until everyone else has already lambasted a certain poster.

The bandwagon is a great place to be, eh?

I, on the other hand, do not mind writing what I think at ANY point. The whole billiard community has been in an uproar over the IPT and the pro players not getting paid, and a poster comes on the main forum (wrong place for an IPT post, funnily enough..) and asks who is going to Chicago, and I am the one catching flack from you? What??

As opposed to you, I actually take a STAND on things. I once posted a message on RSB that said if Pat Fleming could not do what it takes to put his videos on DVD, it having been the year 1999, that he needed to move aside and let someone else take over who wanted to give the customers what they want. And what do you know? He started putting DVDs out fairly soon after that. It caused all sorts of hell in that forum, and I was almost universally chastised. Oh, but you can bet those posters sure do enjoy watching their matches on DVD now, eh? Hypocrites.

Now, getting back to the IPT. It makes me absolutely sick to see all these pukes still giving the IPT and KT the benefit of the doubt. They lied multiple times saying the check was "in the mail". And people are still saying on the IPT forum that nobody should "jump to conclusions".

Say what??? You expect people who have lied repeatedly to you, to somehow "get religion" and do the right thing? That kind of thinking is what allows people like Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Kim Il Jung, Castro, Hussein, and a host of other evil men to gain power, and to keep it.

Save your whimpering for someone who cares. Yeah.. I made a strong comment when I thought the OP was trolling. Get over it.

And just so you know... Batman is not real. And even if he were, the chances are, he does not post to this forum. He'd be too busy getting jiggy with the Riddler to be too involved with pool. Besides, his alter ego, Bruce Wayne would have solved this whole IPT mess by paying the players out of his own pocket.

Hey Russ, calm down. :) I personally don't think I am a puke (and other than Smashmouth, I don't think anyone else does either), yet I am still optimistic for the IPT. I posted a new thread in the IPT section with KT's latest reply. I am not only optimistic about getting paid, but about the fate of Chicago and for all the other players and what the future of pool can mean to those players if the IPT can sustain itself.

Yes, I am wary...but still remain...hopeful.

Linda

I'll be there

If there is an event I plan on going...its only 20-30 minutes from my house, depending on traffic. Actually the walk from the parking lot to the venue will take longer than the drive.
I think Chicago is going to happen...players will show up, demand their money and lynch the ones responssible if they are not paid. Hey, either way it will be quite entertaining.
Action at Chris' Billiards will be worth watching as well.

I'm sorry Russ, but that's pretty funny!

Anyways enough already. I think this IPT no pay thing is understandably putting people on edge.

Since it's 15 minutes away and I supposedly already have two tickets for every day because of my IPT web membership, I'll keep the option open. It's hard to get worked up about it though.

I say pay the players for Reno, throw in a lttle extra for their trouble, and we'll all be able to move forward.

I'm usually at Chris's a couple times a week. I'll keep my ears up on any extra action happening. Man, I'm going to be one pissed off m-therf-cker if this Chicago thing doesn't happen!

Russ,

I am hopeful but concerned as well. The IPT is and can be a wonderful thing for pool, providing the players get paid. I sincerely hope that it works and this is just a "trans problem".

I really take offence that you are calling people on this forum "Pukes". If this is what you think of the players, why are you even here? It is very hurtful to the people that have participated in the IPT to have you calling them names. The players especially Linda, are entitled to be optimistic, why continually burst the bubble?

I don't want to get into a war with you, honestly that is not my intent. I just want you to understand that your choice of words to innocent people are hurtful and really not necessary. If the IPT goes under, all the people involved with the IPT will feel bad enough without being called names at the same time. Don't ya think?

i like the fact that he has strong opinions and speaks them proudly. i in some way am like that as well. more people need to be vocal, and expressive, if you think the IPT sucks, and is a ripp off say so loud and proud,if you think the ipt is great and we will get paid shortly, again, stick up for the ipt and why you believe so, disscusion, debates, and strong opinons is what makes america and forums such as these great, no one cares for wishy washy statements.

Yes, but Bernie, you of all people know first-hand how it feels when there is name-calling involved. I came to your defense then and I still feel that being disrespectful is wrong. I know Russ didn't mean me per se, but to be lumped together into a group of hopefuls for the future of pool in a derogatory way was over the line, imo.

Yes, we should respect diversity and other's opinions, but not get so carried away as to sling hurtful arrows. :o
