Who is the best Positional player that you've ever seen.

There's so many different types i think.

My Favorite would be Efren and Alcano.

I love Strickland's position bc its so automatic.

Ralf keeps it simple but man does he make it look hard. lol

Yang and Orcullo play it pretty similair to me.

And lets not forget the Great Buddy Hall.

I really enjoy watching Alcano though. He's never willing to "lay up" if there's a longer way but gaurenteed position, he'll go the extra rail. Idk i feel like he's also sending a message to his opponents with that style.

Buddy Hall. Very close second IMHO would have to be Mosconi. At the top of their games, either one had a knack for never getting out of line and having to shoot tough shots to get back in line. Both made it look easy because of their tight position play.

I like efren. I think svb and orcollo gotta be somewhere up there real high. That position play svb put on dechaine was near perfect

Buddy Hall, without a doubt.

The best 14.1 position player, according to many with whom I've discussed it, was Mosconi by a mile.

As some have already suggested, Ralf Souquet may be this generation's best. Ralf is a quintessential pattern player, but Buddy was just a little better than Ralf.

Not sure how you compare one's straight pool position play to the position play of a nine baller, so for the best I'm going to go with Budwill Hallsconi.

When it comes to finding perfect, careful, safe and intelligent routes through a mess of traffic, just look at efren. He refuses to get hooked, he refuses to settle for leaving it long, and he almost never gets the wrong angle.

Check out how he solves this little quandary - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RU89j-qo9mE#t=142s

Can't find the video, but check out where he bunts a ball to his side in 1p and then, just because he can, sends the CB forward to corner hook his opponent... you have to have supreme confidence in your position to flirt with scratching intentionally.

Efren + Buddy

Efren, because he breaks out clusters with his position play and is still doing it at a very high level today!!

Buddy, Rempe, Archer, Ralph.

There are so many it's hard to pick one out. However, no one has mentioned The Miz yet, so be it. He played all games well and was a genius with whitey. Denny Searcy was amazing with his rock as well.

Maybe not the all time best but when Allison Fisher was playing her best she was something to watch.

Nick Varner. How can a guy who's great at nothing be so great. Among current crop I like DAZ gets into the middle of the balls and almost always slips balls into the side with perfect placement for next ball. How else can a guy with limited cue power be so effective?

Honorable mention to Mr Frost. Even when he's not playing well is able to stun, slip and slide cue to super persise shape or the rock slammed up against. another ball.

Nick
