It's kinda sad but every time I get on AZ which is several times a day there is always a new one popping up! I'll say it do no one else has too, damn you cleary!
Mmmmm I love steak!
Race to seven for a ribeye!
It would seem that these people would have someone close to them that believed in them enough to put up the small amount of money it takes to play in these events. If they don't then why should random people on the Internet who have no affiliations to you believe.
Wow... I would not have expected this given the quote from Albert... maybe the only place that can recognize the value in chasing a dream in pro pool is a place that shares in the belief that the game itself has value.... no?
why would this person not be able to get what he/she needs from people they know?
Maybe the players involved should consider another line of work if they cannot even afford to do what they do for a living... lol?
I think its funny when guys like John Schmidt come on here and beg for money.. Isn't he supposed to be some sort of champion? Yet he cannot afford to put himself into a $600 tourney.
Is this poor money management, lack of confidence or what?
I would love to travel the world and do nothing for a living... Would someone please stake me?![]()

Is this poor money management, lack of confidence or what? (maybe scared and knowing they probably won't cash)

With all due respect to you as a player, John Schmidt did win the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship on a stake from this forum. Before that time, he had a demonstrated track record of winning multiple events, gambled high, and was actually well known for his straight pool expertise.
It is no secret that the payouts in pool in 2013 are the same as they were 20, 30, 40 years ago. As I am sure you know, if you compete on the level that John Schmidt does, you have to win, place, or show to break even. Most times, you're playing world beaters, and you're stuck from previous tournaments when you did not win, place, or show.
I'm sure you are a great player and have a strong fan base. I see AzBilliards Team thinks enough of you to place a black banner beneath your name as a Pro Player.
I have contributed to stake committees for players I believe are worthy of being staked. Because I know how hard it is for the full-time professional player, I don't mind helping some of those pro players, if I can afford to, like the ones that come on here offering their services to others, donate their time to children, participate in charities, et cetera, et cetera.
In sum, it ain't poor money management as much as it is there ain't no money in professional pool. Now, before anyone comes on here and chants, "Nobody asked them to shoot pool for a living," I am just addressing why stake threads on AzBilliards are okay in my opinion. Similar to my stance with half-naked-women avatars, I know, once again, I am in the minority.
Nothing wrong with it, and it bothers you how?
I've been involved in a couple and will throw in a few more I suspect.
Everything bothers somebody ...........
