Why and what the hell is John French offering top pro players that they're signing up with him? What is he going to do for them? Who are they going to play...each other?

So far, I know the players below have joined him...anyone else?

Ko brothers

Seems like Shane is about the only one who might step up against these guys and he is going to win some matches. I just dont see French overcoming the the players cut over any serious period of time.

Yeah you can include John Morra

Dreaming of being pool's Barry Hearn.

Hearn used his stable to promote snooker. :D

For example:

Watch for Hearn at about 2:45. :D

And reference to having a near strangle hold on the top players.
"He don't care who wins this year
Because he's got the rest of us signed up"

That thing rose to Number 6 on the Hit Parade, IIRC. :D

I would assume he offers them the same thing any backer does...
a free roll at a decent payday. Beats washing cars for a living.

French is giving some deserving players an opportunity and the specifics are of no concern to me. They are also none of my business.

I hope his stable of players does well, so that he stays the course. Like any smart investor, if he makes money with this, he'll continue to invest and if he loses money he won't.

I don't see his full angle yet but I agree it doesn't and shouldn't matter to me. What matters to me is I get to see a great matchup. He's enthusiastic about the game and has means to put that enthusiasm to work, that should keep him around a little longer than just trying to profit. I have no doubt he is an intelligent man as well, I just hope he sees his model through. I'm never knocking someone investing in the game in the way they see fit. I can only imagine what kind or criticism I would take if I had the money to do what I wanted to do.

With that said, I'm pulling for SVB in this one. Also hoping to see Big or Little Ko in the box at some point against a major contender, maybe Dechaine, Bergman, or Kiamco. For people to say they would only be able to play each other they must not realize how many great players there are, especially that gamble internationally.

Who cares? It's good for the game as long as they aren't playing each other. I don't sit around and count other peoples money.

Funny - when Morra played and beat Roberto Gomez @ DCC, French was not involved in the financials at all.

Also, to repeat my question from another thread - can someone list all of the action Team French got into at the DCC (the biggest gathering of gamblers in the country each year)?

He offered me a spot on his team too. Seems like a nice guy who loves pool! John B.

What was the offer package? Do you get a 401K? Vacation time? Free cue repair? Pool shoes? Come on - we's gots to know.
Lol, Watchez. JohnnyT grew up in the era of "don't stick your nose in others' business", but now is the first one with questions. I keep thinking of the line "Are you a cop or something?"

You should check out Fast Lenny post on Facebook and the responses by Mike DeChaine - interesting reading.

But yes, as a young person in the pool room, I quickly learned not to question where people got their money.

I also learned not to mouth off to someone until you know who they be or not be.

So Shane is saying 20K cash has already been posted. Not sure if that's from each side, or in total?

Appleton just posted he hasn't signed anything - French just has the option to stake him in money games if he wants it.
