Alton,

These caps, and your work continue to amaze me. They are unlike what anyone else can do, and simply raise world class cues to a whole other level. I cannot wait to receive this set, as I can only imagine the transformation that will take place when I apply the caps.

Let me assure you, your work has found a permanent resting place in my home. And the caps are thoroughly enjoyed by all who see them.

You are a rare treasure in the billiard world, and one I plan to keep "in action" on a regular basis.

Thanks again!

Will Prout

Beautiful

These have to be the Nicest Cue Caps I have seen, they could not have went to a nicer person. Will is one of the nicest people I have met here on AZ, has helped me several times when he really didn't have to. Please enjoy these caps and stay in good health and I may need more help! LOL. Congradulations Will, and Congradulations to you Alton for some Great Cue Caps.
TOMMIE

Those look fantastic Alton. Will was kind enough to invite me up to see his collection and I really enjoyed looking at the protectors that you've made, they are just top notch, his collection wasn't half bad either.

Thanks All

Will, Everyone,..
Thanks for all the kind words..
I'm so fortunate to have the chance to make this and all the kinds of caps I make.
Thank You Will....Thanks All...

Yes, this cap took a long time to write the g-codes..
And, CNC machining time..
I use TURBO-CAD.. A very inexpesive CAD Software..
I draw everything fom lines and circles, bending and tweaking them and
putting them in place.
Then, open the Drawing in LazyCAM.
In LazyCAM, the line are now called "Tool Paths".
They are in what ever order LazyCAM "thinks" is a logical order.
NOT!!! It has the CNC jumping all over the place.
I gotta go in and be sure the tool Paths are cutting the objects in the correct order and tool cutting direction.
Then, I send that to Mach 3, where I check the X and Y axis' #'s to be sure they are cutting in the right locations.
There, I add the Z axis and copy and paste the G code cycle and add to the Z axis for feeding the depth.
I do not plug in the tool diameters and tell the machine how much depth to cut.
I "figured in" all the tool diameters in my drawing dimentions.
I don't trust the programing for sutff like that.
Why, "cause I don't trust the software.

I did try it before and the g code is so long and complicated,
it takes to long to read it all and check for errors.
And, there are other "Stuff" the software throws in, like one had
a Z-10.77777777,
which was telling the spindle to feel down 10.77 inches..
I trust myself..;)

I just wanted to explain my methods.. It's not as simple as "The normal way"
it might be done..
But, this way I know exactly what the CNC is doing,
'Cause I control all the g-code I put in..

Again, Thanks for viewing...

alton this is your best set of caps ever. I have a big Tad like this we talked about, want to try it again, not to top these as I dont look at collecting and art as a competition, I'd just like to have caps at or near this level. Nice Will your are the man!!!! and so is alton.

I need a pic of Barry for a cue cap like we did with Gus as well.

best to everyone,we sure are lucky to have access to share and enjoy such wonderful art. and on a personal note Alton is a better man than his work.

best

eric
