Nothing against Wedge, but surely he is in the very small minority.

The SHEER BEAUTY of AZB is that it brings together those that truly love the game...from ALL OVER THE WORLD. It is a forum that even the pros will frequent on occasion. They should feel free to promote their products, relate their experiences, and express their opinions in a collegial fashion - THAT is what is good for the game; and THAT is what C.J. provides. Hats off to him.

Most of us feel privileged to hear the thoughts and opinions of the pros (even if we don't always agree).

P.S. - and while I have been privileged to hang out with a lot of champion players, I usually find that when I disagree with them on almost any point in pool; on closer reflection they are correct and I am wrong. Wish it was different :-)

I had the opportunity to hang out with Buddy Hall when I was young and I noticed that he always played with the same side of the cue up. I ask him about it and he said "because I play the game with the top of my tip".....I didn't understand and it bothered me enough to figure out what he meant and how to change my stoke slightly to get the same results.

This when I discovered hot to "PIN" (you can tell by the sound) the cue ball. Last week I taught a student how to do this technique and it was rewarding to pass on the information that Buddy had given me in one simple sentence....and let me do the work.

I've always thought of pool as a way to express myself. Some people play music, write poems, draw/take pictures, create business plans, teach, martial arts, govern, sing, dance, etc. - I use pool to satisfy this "artistic desire".

Pool, to me, is also a microcosm of life in general with scenarios like "risk/reward", "win/win", "win/lose", "goal setting", "human nature tests", "structured rules", "honesty/dishonesty", "systems & controls", "capitalism", "money management", "socialism", "democracy", "social skills", compassion, understanding, problem solving, meditation, hand/eye coordination, calibrating people, gambling, drug/alcohol reality, reading road maps, etc.

I've learned a lot about life, people, human tendencies, and especially myself playing and competing at pocket billiards (and other games/sports). I'm told humans can learn life just living "life on life's terms," and I'm not sure it could be as well rounded and diversified as matching up and competing. If you can survive in the greatest pool rooms you certainly have a head start on those that just learned in class room environments.

We're not sure if we love pool, have a passion for it, or was just destined and born to play. Can any of us honestly answer that question? One thing's for sure, we've had "life experiences" that we could get no other way. 'The Game is Our Teacher'

That leaves one of two possiblilities- 1. You haven't read very many of CJ's posts. or 2. You don't believe hardly anything of the book you co-wrote.

I'm going with number 1.

"...out of context..." hmmm. Well, OK. Here's the whole email:

"F**k you, you f**king f**k. Why don't you post this - it doens't matter if
you do because everyone will only think you took poetic license anyway and
I'll deny it. You lost a**hole. You are the one of the dumbest f**king
pr**ks alive. You might actually be the only person I would just flat out
f**king punch if I saw you in person. Be very f**king glad you didn't bring
this sh*t to New Orleans you sack of crap. I dare you to cross my f**king
path anytime. If you do then be prepared for a f**king fight a**hole. You
are going to eat every f**king word you ever said to me.

Post it - dick!"

Sorry that didn't come from me. New Orleans? I have been there twice, once for a trade show where playing pool or interacting with anyone from the forums was the absolute farthest thing from my mind and once for a night while I was passing through and hung out with JoeyA for a couple hours.

But again, this still doesn't provide context.

IF I would have sent you an email like this then WHY?

WHY would any person ever send such a "polite" person as you such an email?

I've participated in a fair number of Internet forums. By a huge margin, you are the most argumentative individual I've ever encountered. I feel sorry for you dude. Really.

I humbly take second place to you. Thank you for your pity, save it for yourself. Being wrong as much as you are has to be frustrating.

I started a thread about this a couple of years ago, but I called it digging into the cue ball. I was summarily dismissed by the hierarchy here as nonsense. This is probably one of the reasons you're on the $hit list.

I learned it from a pro player, who posts on this forum occasionally, when I traveled with him and another version of this same technique from a 2 time US Open winner. NAH...wtf could they know?!

Sorry for the derail. Back to the whining! playing-smiley08.gif

Best,
Mike

Oh, you supposedly wanted some interaction. And as I recall, Joey was going to hold the dough for our match on one of those visits. But you crawfished out.

Sorry, don't remember any of that. When was all this? 13 years ago. You are using stuff we said to each other - supposedly - 13 years ago to "win" an argument now where you want to portray yourself as Mr. Polite and me as Mr. Uncivil.

Gee you're worse than a woman who holds onto things forever. Let's see you met me at DCC in 2003 I believe and we shared a drink and maybe even shook hands. We buried the hatchet at that point until you resurrected it in 2010.

As for crawfishing, I have never backed out of playing you EVER. Aside from that DCC encounter you saw me two other times and both times you didn't utter a peep about us playing. You could have spoken up any of those times and offered to play some but you didn't. So don't act like I have been ducking you Lou. I never have and never will.

As for holding the money, as I have told you several times, I am in Oklahoma City and you are more than welcome to come here and play me for $1000 per game every day of the week. The only stipulation is that before you come you have to post the rest of the $10,000 stake with Mike Page so that after I whip your ass here you can't back out in March without losing the whole $10k.

Again though, why would anyone in the world be angry enough with such a peach of a person as you to be inspired to send you angry emails or want to punch you in person?

I stand corrected: we were supposed to play in St. Louis, not NOLA.

The funny thing is that to this day you've been pissed at me for stuff I said over a 15 years ago about Hal Houle and CTE but now you want a statute of limitations, lol. Weren't you the guy who just very recently brought up my playing at a tournament 13 years ago?

But enough of all that, for now. Let's not continue to hijack the thread. CJ is probably feeling neglected.

Neil,
Number 1. Have never seen anything impolite from C.J....but haven't read very many :-) (I believe everything in the book...except for what Mark wrote about me :-)).

P.S. - My main point was that people SHOULD be allowed to "hawk their wares" on AZB. We don't have to buy them if we don't want to; and it is often the only way we hear about new things (though I won't be doing any hawking :-)).

That's how I see it....and CJ pays the rent with some good posts.

The very real problem with having no limitations on "hawking" in the Main Forum is that if allowed to go unchecked, there will nothing but advertising threads spamming the forum. And then the forum will cease to function. So there have to be limits....

Where to draw the line? That is the unenviable task Jerry, Mike and Mr. Wilson face.

When you all are finished squabbling...

C.J. Wiley, from one Dallas/Fort Worth citizen to another, thank you for your contributions to pocket billiards. I, especially, want to so my gratitude to the many of those that positively contribute to pool (I can name a long list, but its for you guys). For those that banter and rant bullshit, I have a middle finger salute for you morons without a mindset.

I'm tired of all the mindless, good-for-nothing, ignorant people bashing professionals that want to give their piece of mind and coming their way and time just to be with us average folks. :/

When you all are finished squabbling, I'll be reading the Carom Billiard and Snooker section to figure out how those two can be a better form of billiards for the United States....

This. X 10. I was made aware of Mark's book on a thread here. The primary reason for visiting this site, for me, is to learn more about pool and pool related subjects such as tournaments, streaming videos, cues f/s, etc.. I dont come here to read JBCases arguments and monstrous ego pontificate, thats for sure.

Very succinct justadub. I'd like to add - I think the the mods keep a good bead on the pulse of the members and respond accordingly. So when the members go on tilt over someone, the owners/mods "get it". And the members also influence posters that push the line.

It appears the site owners and mods have the site pretty well under control. I would bet they monitor all the traffic statistics as well and if a negative trend started, they'd take steps to reverse it rather quickly.

Hmmm....doubtful eventuality.....I'm almost positive there will still be discussion of aiming systems.....and hot pool chicks.....and Earl's latest meltdown....and DCC events.....and Mosconi Cup re-hash....and low deflection shafts.....and JB cases.

Hell...if things get really boring, they can just un-ban Fast Larry; his posts will vastly outnumber the people pushing their wares :-).

Big difference is Mark DID NOT post 1000 threads selling his book. In fact he didn't post A SINGLE ONE!!!!

Yes people should be able to sell things on AZ. If only we had a separate forum for things people wanted to buy or sell. That would make things simpler now wouldn't it.

I am not pissed at you. Then as now I just want to play you. Back then I had just learned Hal's methods and was excited and you verbally abused me from the start. I actually had no idea that you had already been abusive to many others and Hal before me over the same thing. Anyway you picked the wrong person in me because I simply said let's play some. Of course you wouldn't budge from your porch in St. Louis so we never matched up.

But when we did play just a couple games in a small forum tournament just a few months after you started verbally assaulting me I beat you. I beat you at your game.

Then we had a truce forged at DCC that held until 2010 when you started in on me again. At that point I simply offered you a ball for $100 a game to see where I really stood. Up until then I didn't mention the fact that you lost to me already.

I was perfectly fine shaking your hand and agreeing to disagree about aiming systems. But was not fine with sitting back and allowing you to knock incessantly when in fact the methods work - when you want to call system users all sorts of derogatory names and denigrate the teachers then I think it's perfectly fine to remind you that one of them beat you at your game and stands ready to play again. I think it's good for the readers to know that you got your ass handed to you by a person you knock online.

If I come to DCC I will be happy to play you for $500 a game on the same condition that you post the entire $10,000 for the March match. Do we have action? I can drive to you this coming week. I will guarantee you 10 games on your table. Give me 7.5/5 on the money and I will spot you a ball 9/8.

Is that clear enough for you? I hope my request was polite enough for you.
