Chalk.... I say CHALK Boooooiiiiiiaaaaayyy!!!

I think Tweeten should compensate the descendents of Betsy Ross...
.....or go back to pre-flag Masters.
I'm thinking of exclusively using Triangle from now on.

pt....thinks there aren't enough chalk threads

I like the cut of your jib, Sir.

Chalk is much like the human brain or the ocean floor, largely unexplored and full of wondrous mystery.

This is now a chalk thread

We've had one from DAY ONE.....on the front page no less.

Just pay for a freakin' ad on Azb!

All this stuff is just silly.....azbilliards make the rules, we follow them and that's that.

He does pay for ads here.

The argument is about "advertising" in the Main Forum, something that there are rules against. That rule is bent by individuals often, to varying degrees. This issue at hand is whether CJ is abusing his privileges here or not.

Again, I would assume that Mike and Jerry are aware of this issue, and must be ok with how CJ operates here, else they would have stopped him by now.

If folks have an issue, they need to use the "report" button to bring it directly to their attention. The rest is standard forum arguing.

I don`t really understand why the guy makes 10 or so threads all hawking the same "million dollar match"
As far as i can tell it`s a match from 1996, why anyone would pay for this i don`t know.'Especially when there is so much great pool for free on youtube.

I've stated it many times and I guess no one noticed.

If anyone knows the history of why I started posting on AZ they would know the answer.

Because everything is more interesting when a million dollars is on the line.

I have to disagree to an extent, CJ. Its not "silly" when you do have an inordinate number of threads going at once, all "selling" in one way or another.

I think you would find much less resistance here if you weren't so prolific. As has been pointed out, you aren't the first to sell in the Main Forum, but you are the leader in the clubhouse in terms of volume.

It doesn't bother me as much as it does others, but I understand the issue. I hope you find a way to coexist with the rest of the forum as opposed to bulldoze your path regardless of how others think.

Yes, wouldn't that be clever. I wonder if the banners actually work, nobody seems to see that we have one on the front page every day.

Good point, I apologize for assuming. Is there a reason your add doesn't add itself in the forum, like I see other ads showing up in-between the posts? Maybe something is broken on their end?

Your ad really should result in sales, but if folks (me included) bookmark the forum, we won't see any main page only ads, since we never hit the main page. I'd reach out to the site admins to have this fixed, so the issue is resolved.

I have to laugh about this thread...all you AZ members DO know that any thread with CJ in it STAYS on the front page of AZ in the MAIN forum.....because you POST in the threads over and over again....right?:D IF none of you that don't care about threads with CJ in them posted...they'd fall off so fast you might not even know they were even started, but no....you just have to post....then ***** about it:rotflmao1:

Because everything is more interesting when a million dollars is on the line.
But do you need to start several threads, that basically is about the same?

I`m not thrasing you as a player, I`m watching the ultimate 10 ball with yourself and and Jeremy Jones now and It`s no doubt that you are a gifted player.

You must be one of those people who doesn't think pool is in the dumps:) And if you do know, I bet you wonder why! ;)

Regarding banner ads and in-between post ads....I use tapatalk a lot and see no ads, nor signatures.

I would think a lot of folks probably do the same.

The more I read this thread, the more it looks personal. If CJ talks about
his products, who cares and who forces anyone to listen?

I think he would get more respect if he was bum who knew nothing about pool.
I find that the people who know the in's and out's of pool, at least to the degree
of there own travels throughout the sport, get little or no respect at all.

As far as him selling his items, there is a big difference between him
selling and promoting. What we see on the bottom of his threads is
promoting. If we choose to click on it and make a purchase, that would be selling.
Either way its our choice.

Personally I don't think CJ deserves more respect than anybody else but
should be given equal respect because he's a human being like the rest of us.

I understand its an open forum for opinions being good or bad but shouldn't
get personal.
One thing I do know is, we all have a love for the game which brought us all
to this site. The pool community is small, lets not make it smaller.

That has been modified.

It goes that he waits till he gets to the other side and then stings him and says "I"m still a scorpion and you're still a frog"

"The scorpion asked a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung during the trip, but the scorpion argues that if it stung the frog, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown. The frog agrees and begins carrying the scorpion, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When asked why, the scorpion points out that this is its nature."

can we actually say something nice about somebody who has done so much for pool

Sure Dean, we all do every day on this board. Exactly what has CJ done for pool? I mean, that other people haven't. There are a considerable amount of members that are presently doing more than CJ is at the moment.
He claims that he has some long term goals for pool. So far, I can see that he is trying to line his pockets with the help of members from this site.

Anyone can make any claim that they want.
I guess that:

Time is the Teacher.

a young boy wanted to be the best pool player in the world:

i supply bars & pool halls w/ tbls, chs, & bsts.
here's my new signature line:

.

I can't imagine caring what you (or anyone else) puts on your signature line.....it has absolutely no effect on anything...if I want to click on it I will, if not I won't.

Of course the reasons people are objecting to my signature line is becoming more and more apparent. It suddenly dawned on me why it's such a big deal to "some" people.

The key to improving in pool or anything else is not being distracted. It reminds me of the story when a young boy wanted to be the best pool player in the world:

....he researched and found a Master Instructor to learn from and called on him.

The Master agreed to meet, and the boy said "Master, I want to be the Best Pool Player in the whole world, how long will it take me?" The Master said 10 years, the boy, troubled, said "what if I practice more than any of your students, how long will it take?"

The Master said 20 years, even more disturbed the boy ask "what if I practice day and night to be the best, how long will it take?" The Master said "30 years," the disappointed boy said "how come when I say I will practice and work harder, you say it will take longer?"

The Master took a sip of his tea and said "the reason is simple young man, with one eye on your destination you only have one eye to achieve your
goal - to be the best we must focus both eyes {our full attention} on "how," and the outcome will happen when the time is now.

Don't stop making or posting in these threads, CJ! This is the best entertainment value for free I've seen lately. Once in a while, NPR gets flame worthy and the sniping is truly a treat. But several threads on the front page of the main forum is what keeps them coming back for more!

You don't have to defend your posting or make excuses for what you do. Just keep posting and being cordial, even though the readers are gathering the torches and pitch forks. The weather's bad outside and there's no better game in town. to-play-at-billiards.gif

The only criticism I have about this whole thing is that there haven't been any threads about playing the game and your insight is being wasted on squabbling and negativity. Hopefully that will change, although it's been interesting listening to all this advice to keep you out of trouble. sFun_abduct3.gif

Best,
Mike

Yes, the ads probably generate 10% of our clicks.....the majority is from Face Book.
