Jean Robert Bellande who was known as Action Bobby in the pool world for a number of years until he turned to poker 5 or 6 years ago is doing pretty good at this moment in the main event. He is in the top 20 and guaranteed 57K at the moment but looking for a lot bigger payday (top prize is close to 10million). You can follow him on his tweet http://twitter.com/BrokeLivingJRB or the live reporting for world series of poker.
He was recently involved in some good action 1 pocket matches in Vegas while Dippy Dave was going off, although he was playing for thousands it kind of went unnoticed. He has won and lost hundreds of thousands playing pool and I am sure if he made the final table he would take a few breaks from poker for some big action pool matches.

Thanks for the update. I remember hearing about him playing in the pool room in Vegas recently.

It's nice to have a horse to root for in the poker tournament! :)

They'll have it down to 9 Saturday, good luck to action Bobby. Michael Mizrachi might be in position pull it off this year too.

He's kind of a cutie pie sitting in front of all his little chippies! :smiling-heart:

Here's a post written by 1ooFTDeeP from 2B2 about JRB:

Last May im in Vegas for a bachelor party we go to Saphire of course. We have a roped off area - maybe ten guys. We head over to our area and sometime later some large guy comes over and kind of plops down in our section, no big deal fu@k it.

He is there alone, drinking, kind of weird. I go over to figure out what he is up to because we have a running tab, bottles coming and aren't looking for freeloaders. I go make small talk explain its a bachelor party he says he is waiting for a friend and was under the impression this area was his.

At this point I could care less, the areas big enough for him his friend and my crew. Five minutes later a tray of maybe 30-40 shots is brought over by some big ti!!ed stripper - she says courtesy of Bobby and points to you know who.

Go back over realize its JRB tell him the guys appreciate the drinks and I like his honest postings on 2+2 he tells me he is waiting for Huck Seed (who shows up right after this conversation) and that they are going to celebrate Huck's Head's Up win.

Again, long story short, JRB didn't need to send over a couple hundered bucks in shots to some guys he didn't know, but he did. He is a nice guy even when no one is watching.

The fact he is always on the edge financially makes his generosity all the more appreciated.

So take it down JRB - shots on me next time.

Since this guy is a pool player I wish him the best of luck.

Hope he wins it all and starts the biggest pool tour ever.

The money goes up fast when they get down to 100 players. I'm pulling for Bobby too. It would be great to see him make the final table. Michael Mizrachi looks tough this year, chip leader right now. He's becoming the man to beat, probably the best player still alive. 126 left, last I checked.

Jen,

While I was watching Dippy Dave play, I think Allen Hopkins, Bobby matched up with the infamous "Bucktooth" on the next table over at Pool Sharks. Didn't last long. An argument broke out over some missing money. Bobby sure talks a good game though!

Wow Lyn, Thanks for turning nice comments about a pool player making a score into some negative BS. You are the sharkiest.....(salt city, joss tournament).....your small dude.

I always thought Bobby was pretty cool, and I felt bad for him when I saw him down on his luck a few years ago.

I am glad to see that he has recovered and is doing well in poker. He has a great personality for TV.

Looks like JRB has a long road ahead of him...700k. Benyamine is still alive, so he could be a threat...MM has a 5:1 chip advantage right now.

Im rooting for Rudy Miller in the Main event. He is doing well or was at my last update.

He plays in a casino here in Socal that I play at on occaision.

Last night at a tournament we were getting regular updates from guys there about his play. It was pretty fun following along while we were playing our tournament. Slightly different stakes though :D
