World Ten Ball - Will the show go on? Will it be cancelled?

I guess they will pay the players first, so I guess there is not much hope left.

Besides, it is wrong calling it hope. I will gladly pay what I have been betting, as long as Niels, Wu and Darren etc get paid! Nothing would be worst than if they don't get paid now...

This is four days-if i dont get something by the end of the day, im paying you and assuming I lost.

I think we should wait some more. It is gone almost a week, and Johnny Archer is the only player who has received his winnings. (1000 $).

So this far it looks like I was correct, but I am willing to wait even one more week to see if the players receive their payment.

Deal?

HUH???? I had no idea-last time we spoke, you said everything looked good. I thought Edwin said everything looked good cept some refs.

You mean they didnt even get checks at all? Johnny got one and cashed it? He got cash? Tell me more please.

This could be the end of the BSCP id assume if true which could be a silver lining.

Johnny Archer asked for cash after he lost, and for some reason they paid him his 950 $ (1000 $ winning, but 5 % goes to WPA)

The rest was told that the money would be wired to their accounts, according to the thread "Jay - Bandido - someone?"

As of today, no money has been wired to the players....

Roy there is something wrong with your statement. The Players are not the ones who are to pay the 5% to the WPA. The WPA sanctioning fee of 5% is to be paid by the Tournament Directors/Owners and it is supposed to be paid prior to the event to get the authorization to announce the sanctioning by WPA.

Now, in some events, mainly in the U.S. (Not sure if overseas), taxes are supposed to be taken out of the players pay. W-2 form is issued.

Anyone out there with the real scoop of what happened at the WTBC?

I always thought the sanctioning worked the way you are saying, but it was Jay Helfert that wrote in another thread that Raya took 5 % of Johnny Archer's money, and gave him 950 $ instead of 1000 $. (Think it was Jay that wrote it).

Players in past World Championships (World 9 Ball, World Cup etc) have always had the 5% WPA Sanction Fee deducted from their prize money. This is passed on to the WPA by the promoter.

So it is the player and not the organisers who pay the Sanction Fee.
This has often in the past elicited the question - What do I get for my money? They do get quite a lot but the WPA have never been very 'user friendly' towards the players in putting forward the benefits of contributing to their coffers.

The WPA sanctioning fee of 5% is to be paid by the Tournament Directors/Owners and it is supposed to be paid prior to the event to get the authorization to announce the sanctioning by WPA.

This is not true but it would be a good idea if it were implemented. Then the players could be paid gross. Then maybe the promoters would be asking - What do I really get for my money? Their benefits are more tangible!

I read somewhere that the thousand that Johnny got came from Jay's own pocket, and not
from the promoter/organizer, Jay is just being a good Samaritan, I hope he gets his grand back...

It's now Tuesday in Manila, a day passed the D-Day, anybody got paid yet?
