Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

aaaah, now it makes sense why you dogged me so much about my opinion of diamond tables, you work for them! your biased because of that fact. you know what, I don't have a problem with you standing tall for diamond, you should, you work for them and believe their the best table. what you should understand is that because someone has a different opinion, you shouldn't just berate them on this forum because of it. diplomacy goes a long way! you should try it sometime.

Surly there has been enough discussion about the changes that took place on the Diamond tables to make most aware that the changes took place and why...as in posted before you made your comment about...."if only Diamond would make their tables play better"....my comment was about your overlooking all the other treads talking about this very subject....to bring it up again...as in your opinion....well sir...your "opinion" was taken into consideration along with everyone else's "opinion" about the Diamond tables banking short and playing boingy off the cushions....and "Changed"....talked about...explained...several times already....even before the US Open took place....YET...you still make a post as "if only Diamond would make a change"...that's what bugs me about your post! You got your wish...Diamond "CHANGED" their rails...so you don't have to make statements any more like...."if only Diamond's played right"...now do you understand me??

I even made the same comment about Diamond changing their rails in this thread to someone else....yet YOU still had to ECHO the same thing...."OH if only Diamond would change their tables to play more like Gold Crowns"

Quit crying about the rails on the Diamond tables...they've been changed....and move on with it, and no....there's nothing wrong with the Diamond pocket angles either....they're not gaff pockets....they're just not "take anything fired at them" pockets for the amatures that think their game is so good that when they miss....it's the TABLES fault...not theirs!!

WORK...for Diamond??...Diamond don't sign my paychecks buddy;) this has been discussed on here before. I'm a freelance master billiards technician...I work on Brunswick's as well, until Diamond made the changes in their rails...I could make any Gold Crown play better than a Diamond...now...all I can do is make them play the same, with the exception of the slate depth in the pockets;)

I support Diamond with 100% of my skills, because I don't see ANY other table manufacture stepping up to the plate to make tables play better for the good of this sport...not even Brunswick;)

Here is a intersting question.

"IF" Burnswick were serious about improving their tables and making them play better/more consistent, while keeping the "feel" of a Gold Crown (aka not just making them into diamonds) what would you have Brunswick do to improve the quality and playability of the Gold Crown?

I mean, it is probably the things you do to the tables after the fact, but from ground up construction I am guessing if you had the say you could get Gold Crowns to be coming right out of the factory way, way better then they are.

I'm a freelance master billiards technician...

Who gave you the title "master" billiards technician. Just curious. In most fields of work, you have to have some sort of certification to get a particular title, or are you self certified? those are my favorite kind.

I bet if you ask "who is the best table mechanic" on here or anywhere that has had RKC and others work on tables, they are going to say RKC.

Because I've done it all, from building pool tables from ground up, to inventing my own line of coin-operated pool tables, to consulting Diamond on how to make their tables better, to teaching other table mechanic's on to take their skills to levels they never knew existed. I lead...I don't follow in this trade.

I am just always curious when people proclaim themselves as "masters" I dont doubt YOUR skills, I just know a lot of "master" builders that I wouldnt let build my dog's house. just sayin.lol Maybe you should refer to your self as Dr. RKC or something....of Prof. RKC.:D

Errm, have you ever actually "seen" RKC's work?

No, thats why I said I didnt doubt his work. Doesnt that insinuate I havent seen? I;m just talking about when people give themselves names that are meaning less, the term "master" anything doesnt say much, because anyone can say that. Im saying he should use a different word that has a definite meaning. Can I say that?

How about installing ball boxes and ball counters built into the foot rail............sweet.

SVB on 5x10

I get this second hand via Randy Davis of KCMO but Randy is a factual type guy. He was told by Don Brink, owner of Raytown Recreation, that SVB is the straightest shooter he has EVER seen. Who is Don? He was the rack boy at Kling & Allen and worked matches involving many all-time greats including Mosconi in his prime. So can anyone answer this - did SVB play on the 5x10 Kling at Raytown Rec? That table was one of the 2 5x10s in Kling & Allen that was played on by the all time best there. I will contact Don and ask him....... you might want to know how he played on that if he did. But how many of you have seen Earl shoot wing shots at high speed? He shoots the last one in hardest.... behind his back.

he said, shes said.

you heard from a guy , who heard from a guy that says he heard from a guy , that knew a guy who used to know a guy to like to know other guys?hmm very direct!

Only problem is....wing shots don't shoot back;)

A ton of his work has been posted on this very forum, with pictures and all. I would suggest you take the time to look at it before continuing your posting on this topic.

RKC is well known as a master table mechanic

Hey RKC, Cuephoric is a friend and maybe I am paraphrasing but he basically said nobody stretches cloth tighter than you. You are the man. Ignore the guy criticizing you... if he doesn't know your work then he obviously is not knowledgeable on the subject. If someone wants the best they'll find you. And by the way, on wing shots the cueball is technically shooting back at you.... when it comes back for the next shot.
SVB/Earl? They are both great players. Only problem is that if the last truly epic match ended Efren 120-Earl 117, total of 237 games still decided by only 3 games then a statistician would say that the N number is not big enough to be a valid sample. And as much as I idolize Efren, Earl beat himself at the end. Better play race to 300 or so. Back when 5x10's were the championship table (with 2 5/16" balls and 4.5" pockets) the championship challenge matches went on for a week.... a morning session and an evening session each day. Might as well do it all old-style.

table question for RKC as long as you're there....

RKC... what do you think of the accusation that balls skid more on diamonds? I say the balls don't know which brand cabinet they are on, they only touch the slate they're sitting on. Is the slate honed differently vs Brunswick? I just doubt there is really more skidding.... maybe some players, not liking diamonds, play more tentatively and beat themselves..... not my area of expertise, that's why I am asking you.....
