I think i'm in the minority here.

Sell it.

You have so many nice cues and it will be near impossible to pick and choose which ones to keep and which ones to sell.

I'll make it really easy for you, if you even had to ask if you should sell it or not then it's not in your "must keep" group.

And finally this opens up the opportunity for another cue lover to own this cue, and it just might be a "must keep" cue for them and you might make someone's day.

You have some serious work ahead of you to figure out what to sell. Every cue you have shown on AZ and pictures you have sent to me are a collectors dream. I know this is not a monitary thing probably just a cleaning to make room for more. I know when I sell a cue out of my little collection I miss it for a little while but just start looking for another one, but so many of yours are one of a kind. If it is something I can't replace I don't sell it unless I am just tired of it or need the room. IMHO you have two choices, enlarge your pool room by another 5000 sf or value the cues at the current beat down sometimes rediculous prices then divide by 50% and send them all to me. LOL

From what Ive seen of the pics you posted you lean towards tuxedo cues.if that's indeed the case sell it and many others.I now have about 6 cues all made for me by different CMs and I am attached to them so i know what its like to part with them.The truth is you can really only play with one.Collecting is great but cues are meant to be played with no matter what the cost is.
When i finally get my choice cue which i hope is soon I will sell everyone that i own except for my first one.From speaking with most Cms their sentiment is a cue is to be played with.JMHO
only you can make the final choice.
 
I have never seen a showman in person,but it looks so nice and i hear such nice things,drop me a note if you decide to sell

a word of caution,if you start selling you might be sorry,look at all the great cues that slipped through my hands.

Ivory jointed Balabushka,Ivory butt Szamboti box cue,Kersenbrock violin cue,6 ivory wrapped southwest,Dozens of Gus fancy,Famous celebrity Gina cues and so many famous champions cues it would be impossible to list

and what do i have to show for it?

Oh yes,3, 6point Gus Szamboti 2 GSB SZAMBOTI 8 point cues and a 4 point GSB and a beautiful Barry box cue with Gold inlays

Why not.....unless you have some centimental attachment to a cue I dont see why a cue would not be sold or traded. Im not talking about giving them away but for the right price anything can be bought right, unless like I said there is a emotional or centimental attachment to it. I have about 3 or 4 cues I "don't think" I would part with and they are very minimal in value, $200 to $500 maybe. A couple were made by a local cue maker that moved away and even though they play great they would be virtually impossible to get any decent money out of.:thumbup:

i can imagine how *terrible* it is for you to decide *executring* your plan. I am not sure what brought you to think about selling your *babies*- it still sounds that it will hurt you a lot selling one of them. For sure there is a special story about each of the cues- so i personally would have a problem to give it away, too.

The only thing what could minimize the bad feeling by selling one would be to know, that it will be in *good hands*. But for sure there will be a strange feeling for every cue you would decide to give a way.

The cues with the most amount of HAND CRAFTSMANSHIP stay...

all the others.. GO...

and there is no X or Y or Z in craftsmanship. Just like there is no I in team...

Multiple cues

I think you should consider selling parts of sets of matching cues you have. I remember you showing three Scruggs and the only difference was the colors. This way, you could pick your favorite and sell the other two. I would never sell the Showman.

Steve,....That's one of the nicest John Showman cues i've seen and I can understand the need to part with a few when the time comes, but as hard as John's cues are to come by and it being the only one you have i'd have to let something else go, other than your Black Boars (they have to stay!!).

Your Showman is one of John's crowning achievements...to me it would be sad to see you sell it.

We all know you have boat loads of cues and many multiples by the same cuemaker..sell some of those and keep the cream of the crop.....and a Showman cue is a prized cue.

This would mean that all your Gina's, Manzino's, and Black Boars would be the first X,Y and Z's to go.., and a list of others..
I'm a big fan of old school, as you are too..
But, I know we both have some fuel injected cars mixed in with the carbureted ones. New technology doesn't make it bad, just different..
Keep your favorites, let the others go..

I'll admit....I didnt read the whole thread yet, but after a couple pages of reading this is my take......I apologize if this is all redundant....

First and foremost, own your possessions, dont let them own you. Of course I am a total hypocrite, especially when it comes to my stereo stuff. I really do understand your dilemma, I HAVE to sell some of my stuff too....

What I am going to do is have a select few items that are keepers, family heirlooms, first cue, last cue...that kiinda stuff......but beyond that SELL what brings the MOST money. FleaBay is almost a scam theses days with all their fees, but you might be surprised what some people will pay for something that you didnt think was that "special". Especially if you get two or more people that want something. Set your reserves HIGH....so you don't sell too cheap, and the people that are serious buyers should reach those levels anyway.....

Obviously we are dealing with a fairly unique niche market here, but there are newbies...myself included....that are coming along everyday. The economy may suck....but there are still fools like me that have been saving my pennies for years and just shelled out over a grand for a plain jane Bluegrass. Did I overpay....maybe, but that's what I WANTED.....Ebay allows you to reach MANY more people than other venues(no offense to AZ meant at all...love this place).

In no way is this meant to be a plug for Ebay, but the point is to find your market, as big of one as you can, and show them what you have.....and see what offers you get....
