I never saw her play until now. I know she is the real deal by her sucess recently, but I had no idea she plays like she does.

what I like:

she has pep in her step, when she sees a piece of chalk on the rail in her line of site she bounces over there and moves it, she gets over the cue like she means it, her break speaks for itself. She hits more balls like a man-not rolling the balls like Karen or Alison, just a differrent style. I like the way she talks she is very self assured and determined.

she reminds me of Jean Balkulis alot. she is head and shoulders the best female player I have seen since Jean.

I learned alot about hormones from a Dr friend bodybuilding, one thing that could possibly explain how she hits the balls is the make up of her muscle tissue, there are 2 kinds of muscle fibres red and white(dast and slow twitch) I cant remember which is which-but one makes you stronger. Men hit the CB different than most wemon because men have different type of muscle fibre and more testrerone-everyone has testerone some people more than others, mine has awalys been low-almost inb the range of a female, and I have high estrogen(i take a drug to keep it low). Because my horomone profile is more like a female I have never been strong for my size. I would bet that Jasmine has more male like hormone levels-which explaines the strength of her stroke and why most wemon roll the balls. theis has NOTHING to do with sexual preferance or coordiantion or looks(sometimes)-so dont draw conclusions, this is about strength only-part of pool, coordination and talent are completely different. I believe that muscle strength is key to playing the best pool in the world and why men as a rule play stronger than wemon, but what the right talented woman has that strength like Jean or Jasman they are as good as the men, sadly most girls dont have that muscle type.

Man she is awesome, she should be in the US Open-its a open tournment. The men only thing is jive-anyone should be allowed, period!!! the best person should win it no the best man, or best white guy, or best black guy. I hate that.

So, let me get this straight, it's GOOD thing that your girlfriend and you wear differnet size cloths????:D :D ...Just kidding.

Jasmin is the real deal - she reminds me of Earl in female form. she's got an amazing stroke and plays the game how it's meant to be played - not just slow rolling everything.

not sure if the the testosterone/oestrogen percentages are the explanation for the way she plays but it's an interesting theory.

Jasmine

Well, I saw her for the first time playing Alison Fisher in a TV match that she almost won and could recognize the form, composure, and determination of someone who was going to play very well. She is really amazing to watch. The photo here I found online recently and I think she is breaking ten ball. Shall we call this extra effort? Very athletic looking here!

the hormones and muscle composition play a huge roll in her game, its why she fires balls in like a man and dosent roll them like girls, i'm not knocking girls at all, boys and girls are just different and pool lends itself to the muscle type of men, there are many other things that the girls are better at than the boys are.

yeah its true my muscles and hormones were more female than male for years-i fixed that years ago, I'd bet Jasmine is the oppsite, about 10% of the people are like that, we all have different ratios of the same hormones, mine wasnt to extreme so I dont look female but it was enough to effect my weight when I was a kid and how hard my muscles used to be, and how strong they were. Its better than 50% I'm right about her hormone levels, its amazing what effects in our lifes, appitite, strength, moods ALOT of things. It cant be ignored if your trying to explaine why she playes differently/better than most other girls watch her in a few more years!!!! Game over,

I am originally from Oklahoma so I ain't so sure about all that science stuff but I think she is one hell of a player and kind of a cutie as well, I wish her nothing but success. Interesting information though Fatboy, maybe I have more estrogen than testosterone which explains why I like one pocket more than nine ball, I likes to use my femenin touch.

Take Care

I agree, she has game. I would like to see how she would fare in the Open although I don't think it would be as high as her 14.1 performances. She is the best chance that the women have right now to seriously compete with the men IMO.

BTW- what are you doing, just chilling in the motel?

I don't know about your theory either, Fatboy. Look at her muscle tone. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

I think she was trained by a man, to play like a man. I'm sure other women could emulate the male stroke.

Jasmin also has an intensity I've seen in only a few other women.

She really does have strong confidence in her game for such a young woman. She is so controlled and deliberate there is no question of her shot. Wonderful to watch in action!

Lean that way myself

Back in the day girls were taught that they were made out of sugar and spice and everything nice and the focus from almost birth was to be "lady like". This young lady has been trained to be an aggressive competitor pretty much ever since she was wearing three cornered pants and I think that is what we are seeing the result of more than anything else.

I also have to say that the best players I have ever seen didn't shoot the balls harder than needed to to get the job done. I don't see any advantage to hitting them hard or at least I see many more advantages to hitting them easy.

you wont see any noticable size in her muscles, look at Alex he dosent look big at all and he fires then strong, its not the size its the composition of the muscle-the red/white fibres. that intensity is another behavior that changes with testerone levels-think roid rage in men(grossly exaggerated in the media). Trust me on this assessment of her, ?I dont know much but when I do know about something I really know about it. Gymnasts have similar muscle traits, she might have done some of that whenb she was younger. No matter what there wont be any girl beating her in a few more years, she will be like Tiger, everyone will be playing for second place, I hope she goes out and kicks ass on the mens tournment trail.

Ernie, bring your best game man, i'm ready for you, hope your good sir. I was lucky enough to have Ernie as a guest, he is now a great friend and will be forever, he is a old school pool player and we know alot of the same people but some how missed each other all those years. :)

This is absurd, unless you've never seen any of today's top women. There is no comparison possible between Jasmin Ouschan and Allison Fisher at this point in time.

Just like Allison, Jasmin's first tour year was a partial year. In 1995, Allison won just one WPBA event and in 2006, Jasmin won just the BCA Open. That's where the similarity ends. In her first two full years on tour, Allison won 13 of the 28 WPBA rankings events contested. In her first two full years (one event this year still to be played), Jasmin has won just one of the fourteen events contested, and Allison has won five of those fourteen events. Greatness is measured in titles.

Incidentally, when the quality of the fields she has beaten is factored in, Allison's track record is, in my opinion, superior to that of Jean Balukas in 9-ball.

Jasmin is fantastic, and she, in my opinion, plays straight pool roughly as well as Jean did. But if we are talking nine ball, Jasmin is not yet in the discussion of the all-time greats of women's pool. Of course, that could well change, and as a regular attendee of women's pro pool events for thirty years now, I am looking forward to watching it.

No no no. What you are saying is absolutely absurd. Today I watched Loree Lee Jones play Gerda in 1995. They missed so many balls it looked like someone moved the pockets. Their play was just pathetic.

Yes, this is about when Allison entered the arena. There was no competition to speak of.

You CANNOT compare Jasmin and Allison in this manner.

Actually, it was before Allison joined the tour, but that's neither here nor there. Even a past-her-prime Allison Fisher is winning titles at a much higher rate than Jasmin in recent play on the tour. Jasmin has no credentials for inclusion in a discussion of women's pool's most elite, unless the discussion is about 14.1. When she starts winning WPBA titles at a high rate, let me know, and then we can start talking about where she rates. Today, such an exercise is a waste of time.

It's funny you say this. My husband and I came home from watching football (Go Bills!!!) and caught her match against Jeanette. Tom had never seen her before (he plays but doesn't follow it like I do). He said "I like her stroke. She plays like a man!" He used to say that about me when I was playing a lot. Now, when I practice, I often wonder if I'm playing like a man or a woman... most of the time, because I'm still rusty and lacking confidence, I'm sure I'm playing like a woman.

She plays with so much confidence, as well she should. I agree, she's got the goods! And on top of that, she's got the looks to be very marketable.

Karla

Certainly Allison Fisher has earned her fame but the last time I saw Allison on tv she looked pretty rough ... Like all the work and titles had caught up to her and were wieghing her down. No doubt about it though she is the top woman player to come along in a long time if not ever... Jasmine is just getting started give her time she certainly has the stroke to be one of the greats and the confidence ... But she till has a long path to go to get where Allison is ...

Still I will put my money where my mouth is and Jasmine will win her share of titles ... She could very well be what Billie Jean King was to tennis and break the barrier between men and womens pool. And she is good looking enough to make many a mans head turn. She is certainly very marketable to say the least ... So here is hoping that Jasmine plays like Fisher and is as marketable as Jeanette Lee at least ... Hey our game needs all the help it can get and Jasmine can certainly help to boost the games popularity and she is certainly no Anna Kournakova ... Jasmine looks fine and has game ... Anna looked fine and had no game...

So go Jasmine ....

From reading about her, it appears she's the beginning of the next generation of female players, she's got another gear, whereas Allison either plays good or real solid, but would have a difficult time putting a 6 pack on ya. Much like Martina Navratalova coming on the scene during the Chris Evert years, or Tiger Woods new power game. 9-ball/10-ball is an agressive, attacking, offense type game, her style is needed in the sport and it will take the womens tour to the next level. She appears to play (from what I've read) much like the Texas Tornado but a more consistent, less wild style. I've not seen her play, but have seen Vivian more than once, and she can at times catch another gear.
