Congrat to Julie. She must be one heck of a player!

You said it! To beat Hsin Huang and Kim Shaw, you have to play great pool. Melman vs Barretta should be a good one for the fans.

I am so proud of her she works very hard, and I don't mean just at pool.Julie holds a full time job + Co tour coordinator and then pool player, she has something you can't practice HEART.I only wish I could be there to watch the action.

Bad news for fans of Melissa Herndon. :( Jennifer Chen has eliminated Melissa Herndon and Laura Smith and is waiting to play the loser between Jeannie and Vivian. I think it will be Vivian.

Is this her debut on the WPBA? She surly has gotten everyone's attention.

Well it looks like we'll have the Fisher v. Fisher match again....I'm still for Fisher, LOL!

It also looks as if Nelson is on the hill 8-5 against Thonfeldt.

Chen will play Seaver.

This is her second WPBA event she palyed in Windsor last year. But she had a much better tournament this time

Jeannie was up 6-1 or something like that at one point against Vivian, and then got on the hill at 8-5 but could not get over the hill. Very unfortunate. Jeannie is a great player.

Ga young won the first game against Fisher, and then things just went down from there and it was all Allison from then on.

Jennifer and Jeannie had a very tough battle last time they played in Florida when Jeannie won that match 9-7 to go into the TV round. It is going to be a tough battle.

Too bad Melman is out. What a great finish she has for her second showing on the tour!

Barretta 9, Melman 4.

Well, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that #11 Barretta proved a tougher assignment than either #18 Kim Shaw or #14 Hsin Huang, but Julie Melman wrote a wonderful story this weekend in Michigan City and this may be the beginning of good things for her. I think Julie proved she can play with the best this weekend, and has clearly become a player to watch.

Here's wishing Julie nothing but success going forward.

LOL. I think that is a stupid bet on your part. Who bets against Karen Corr? I'd give Karen 5 ahead in that one.

Also, GYK is my girl... she is playing some of the best pool right now. Jenn Barretta has what it takes to beat her, but GYK is just so tough.. she's just not likely to make many mistakes. I never bet against any of my girls.

The top half of the draw is going to come down to GYK or Allison, or Melissa Herndon. I think that Melissa is ready to shine, and this could be her moment. I wouldn't bet against Melissa Herndon either - she just has too much heart.

The bottom half of the draw is much more complicated. There is Jeannette, Karen Corr, Gerda and Helena. I still believe Karen will push through barring the unusual. I think when the smoke clears and everyone has 2 losses, we'll still have the Karen/Allison finale. As I said earlier, I would be very suprised if Karen didn't win this tournament. If I'm wrong, then you guys have my permission to pelt me with rocks and garbage.

Consider yourself pelted. The very first time Kelly played Allison she jumped out to an 8:2 lead. To Allison's credit she came back and won that match but Kelly definitely served notice that she is here to play.

I practice with Kelly every day. Kelly plays nearly perfect pool and she is getting better every day. She moves balls with the power of Archer's 9 ball games and plays safe with Efren's precision. She may not win right now but it won't be long before she is convincingly dominating. It is also interesting to note that she is coming in at a time when the general level of play is clearly much higher than 10 or even 4 years ago.

I personally thing that she is a better player than Karen and Allison. In single sets though any of them can win any given set.

I will personally bet 10 dimes in a ten ahead set putting Kelly against any of the women on the tour. Real cash.

And the other player to watch out for is Valerie Finnie. I predict she will be in the top 20 by the end of year and then a super solid top ten player after that. Valerie has more stroke than any other player on tour. I would bet some serious beans on her ability to outdraw any other player on tour.

I'm thrilled to see Vivian playing well. She has been my favorite of mine for a while. It seems like she had a great comeback vs. Jeannie. I really hope she gets by Tiffany so that she can be guaranteed a match on TV (I'm still waiting for the Vivian vs. Herndon TV match to see two of the most animated players against one another). I'm also happy to see Jennifer Barretta still in the tournament.

Also, good win for Monica over Karen. When was the last time Karen went out this early in an event?

And finally, a rough tournament for Melissa Herndon. It can't be nice to lose both matches hill-hill.

Maybe so, but she's only as good as her playing resume, and Kelly Fisher has played under the "maximum pressure" TV lights twice and come up empty twice. Until she plays well on a WPBA Sunday, she remains an emerging star, rather than one that has arrived.

Don't get me wrong, though, OPC, I'd quickly concede that Kelly Fisher already plays like a WPBA top five. Still, based on the matches of hers that I've watched, her offensive execution remains below that of Allison and her defensive play is well below that of Corr. Still, there's every reason to believe that she may contend for number one somewhere down the road.

I just don't think her game has developed as far as you do, but if she reaches Sunday in Michigan City and plays well when she gets there, then I'll be singing a different tune real soon. Until she wins a TV match, however, I'll be singing this one.

Like you, OPC, I'm enjoying watching Kelly rise through the ranks, and she figures very prominently in the future of the WPBA. I wish her the best of luck.

I'm not 100% sure of it, but I believe this 13th place finish to be Karen Corr's worst ever finish in a WPBA event.

Vivian will have a very tough match with Tiffany. Tiffany is playing really well now. I love watching Vivian play. She is real colorful, fun, and classy. Tiffany is a very solid player who is very deliberate, careful, and mechanical. Tiffany is a soft spoken, elegant, and quiet lady; while Vivian is very outspoken and loves to react with the crowd. It is going to be a very interesting match with their styles being so different.
Monica, Helena, and Jennifer C are still in the tournament and they are all playing great right now. Wish them the very best.
It surely was a tough loss for Melissa.

My picks

A.Fisher, T.Nelson, J.Chen,?? ??, M.Webb, J.Lee

so far I'm 75/112 on my picks :(

Still picking Monica, Helena or Jenn to take it.....only problem they could knock each other off. :(

Oh Blackjack...I'm vPelting you with vRocks and vGarbage. :D
