Hey Blackjack,

I'll bet you some vcash that Kelly Fisher takes it down. She has been playing fantastic.

Can I get some odds since Karen is #2 and Kelly is #17 :-))

John

LOL. I think that is a stupid bet on your part. Who bets against Karen Corr? I'd give Karen 5 ahead in that one.

Also, GYK is my girl... she is playing some of the best pool right now. Jenn Barretta has what it takes to beat her, but GYK is just so tough.. she's just not likely to make many mistakes. I never bet against any of my girls.

The top half of the draw is going to come down to GYK or Allison, or Melissa Herndon. I think that Melissa is ready to shine, and this could be her moment. I wouldn't bet against Melissa Herndon either - she just has too much heart.

The bottom half of the draw is much more complicated. There is Jeannette, Karen Corr, Gerda and Helena. I still believe Karen will push through barring the unusual. I think when the smoke clears and everyone has 2 losses, we'll still have the Karen/Allison finale. As I said earlier, I would be very suprised if Karen didn't win this tournament. If I'm wrong, then you guys have my permission to pelt me with rocks and garbage.

Gutsy pick, Dave. Allison barely broke a sweat in winning the first WPBA event of the year. Heard from a few that she's in her very top form right now.

I'm picking Allison, who won the first two events on the WPBA calendar in 2004 and might well do the same here in 2005.

1 loss side

Jennifer Chen Vs Sarah Rousey....

I'm going to go with Sarah... only because I think she is playing better than Jennifer is right now. This will be a good match either way.

Debbie Scjodt Vs Melissa Little...
Debbie knocked out Wendy Jans and Karen Armstrong...(sorry Wendy had a very disappointing 0-2 start, I guess the travel did her in) I pick Melissa in this one, but Debbie is fighting thru these matches and showing that she is getting more comfortable in the big matches.

Miyuki Sakai Vs Monica Webb....
I'm picking Monica, but not confident about it. Miyuki is a great player and can win if given the chance.

Let's face it, there have been absolutely no surprises so far.

Gerda sure does look good lately. Seems like she is very confident and happy with herself. Seems like she is really having fun. University life must really be good for her. She has beauty, intelligence and skill in pool.

Sarah Ellerby received a very, very good draw and may possibly win her next two matches. I expect them to be close and go either way with the hot hand winning. I do favor her to win them. She has been working hard on both her game and her physical conditioning and that may be the edge to put her over.

Any of the losers can win the next two or three matches. No real point in watching any of them.

As for Karen you guys are living in the past. Her great year was two years ago at a time when Allison was having major problems both herself physically and medically with her father.

This year it appears that Karen just isn't applying herself, or just does not care. But she sure looked terrible on TV. Just missed too many shots. Shots that are okay for me to miss but not for a pro.

But in spite of that she still is the favorite in all of her matches with the exception of Allison.

Monica will win easily, Miyuki is very much overrated. As to Wendy I don't know what happened but she finished 9th in Florida ok she lost to Seaver and Ellerby. But losing two in row when she had a lots of time to rest after she lost to Jeanette. Debbie is a good regional player but she doesn't beat any half decent player 9 to 1. This especially true with all the hype associated with Jans.

Hello,

My observation is Ga-Young became WORLD CHAMPION and Jenn couldn't get out of Qualifying.

Gremlin, your habit of belittling Barretta is pretty hard to fathom. She's #11 on the tour, and beat seven of the ten players now ranked ahead of her last season on the tour.

Like you, I'm extremely impressed with Ga Young Kim. I believe she'll be #1 somewhere down the road.

FYI, Barretta's failure to get out of the WPC qualifying was chiefly because she somehow had to play world #6 Thornfeldt to advance to stage 2. What Thornfeldt was doing in stage 1 when over a dozen European players that play far weaker than her were exempt into Stage 2 is anyone's guess, but it was a complete joke. For the record, during last year's WPC, you were raving on the forum about how well Thornfeldt was playing.

I'm not suggesting you have to root for anyone, but let's tell it like it is. Barretta has an impressive track record on the WPBA tour, and deserves to be counted among the best, whether you're a fan of hers or not. The rankings don't lie.

Speaking of the rankings, looks like Tiffany Nelson is in very good form this WPBA season, could be a big year for her. I know she's a favorite of yours, and I wish her luck. I've always had a high opinion of her game.
