I am looking for a few finished shafts that just didnt make the cut. I want to practice some ferrule and joint work. Please let me know if anyone has any available.

Shipping costs too much these days. So, you might just wanna head out to Lowes and get some cheap dowels.

I'll send a mock-up tenon with your ferrules.
That way you can see how they are supposed to look like.

Yea, shipping is a bear cost wise, get an ash dowel or maple (lowes, home depot) and use short pieces for practice. :D

Joey, I was going to order some lumber from Bell Forrest and when I got the shipping quote nearly dropped dead....

Ahhhh.. I was actually thinking about that this morning. Thanks for the help guys.

And thanks Joey! I really appreciate it.

Hi,

Don't buy wood without free shipping. Either buy big orders our wait for their free shipping specials every few months.

Rick

I have dozens of shafts that are rejects between 14 to 16mm that I will sell for $5 each or 25 for $100. They are either rejected for mineral spots or warping. Or I will keep them for making tenons and such out of. I also have some leather blank rejects for practice for $2 each or 20 for $30. They have holes in them or some blemish that makes them not good for final product.

If you want to buy unusable shafts, grab some from EBay.
They will be unusable for just about anything except practice.
If the bids go too high, back off because there will be more posted soon there after.
I know, I know, I am probably going to go to HE double hockey sticks for this but I couldn't resist.

Can I suggest flea markets?

I picked up maple cues for a buck or two each to practice on.

Once there was a guy with a trash can full of old cues and I actually found a couple decent cues in there in addition to shafts to practice on.

Just shipped a box to plshrk22. I have a few more if anyone needs some practice shafts. Finish tapered already.

Send them over.
.865-.525 with less than .005 runout in the MIDDLE.
Ok, .006 will do.

Sharky, I'm sending this mocked-up tenon for your reference on the Ivor-X ferrules you ordered.
Not totally clean as I hurried it around 2 AM today .
My emery board was kinda dull so it didn't look too pretty.
Have Varney send you some emery boards too.
