Jack Madden makes that cue
better balance than the 5 times the price southwests i've tried out
and one of my Maddens is on the heavier side at over 20 oz
feels like that ebony cue does all the work for you
I was going to ask for clarification on what you mean by favorite *builder*. If we are talking about the person that builds the cue, my favorite is Andy Gilbert. Extremely nice friendly guy, really listens to what you want, and does what you ask, while making whatever suggestions he thinks you might like based on what you tell him. My experience having a custom cue built to my exact specifications was an extreme pleasure in all regards, and the price was unbeatable.
Now if we are talking about how the cue plays? Well that's a whole different story. That story also goes like this: Andy Gilbert!!! His cues have a fantastic hit, look beautiful, top rate workmanship, and command respect.
All around Andy is one of those rare ones that combines excellent customer service with a pleasant personal demeanor while delivering a cue of the highest quality and playability.
I think I've made my point haha.

Aside from my league beater I've been playing Gina for 50 years. Still have each of them, including that first one. :thumbup:

I am a fan of Diveney cues. I have played with quite a few others but I always go back to the diviney

I briefly owned a couple of Runde cues in the '80s, but sadly for me, I didn't give them a fair try.
It's a tough choice anyway, after 61 years of play. But I'd be happy with a custom cue from Danny Janes, Tim Scruggs, Jerry Pechauer, Paul Huebler or Bob Frey. Then again, I really like the OBs...

Southeast/Monk
I like a South East with a noncapped ferrule and Elkmaster tip. Since he is retired it would be a Tim Monk Cue his hit is unmistakably soft and I like it.

My playing cue at the moment is a full-splice Titlist conversion done by Mike Pancerny with a Predator FAT shaft that he custom fit for it.
It plays rock solid and moves the ball easily.

Out of all the cues I've tried, only two have made me say "wow" after hitting just a couple shots with them.
One was a South West and the other was a full spliced Ed Prewitt. I've hit other SWs and Prewitts, but those two in particular just seemed to have that something special.
A nod to a couple other makers who turn out consistently great playing cues goes to Ariel Carmeli and Al Romero.

Anybody who doesn't play exclusively with a diveney has made a poor decision.

Having played with literally dozens and dozens of different makers over the years my answer is still a DEFINITIVELY SCRUGGS - without a doubt! Coming in at a VERY VERY close second; also without a doubt for me is a Bob Frey! Fo sho!!!
