Your favourite Earl Strickland quotes

Classic Earl:

"I should've been a butcher." - After a difficult out during a televised match from the early 90s.

"Safeties are for chickens." - Playing David Smith Saturday morning at the 1995 US Open.

"Break like a man!" - After Reyes slow-broke at the 1995 US Open during an 11-2 shellacking of Earl.

"We might as well burn that flag!" - When crowd was rooting for Reyes during above midnight match. This one literally almost caused a riot.

"I am an A-Hole and I deserve to die" well one can only wish.

Poor taste IMO. For all the bad things Earl might have said in his life I am not sure he ever wished death on anyone, and even if he did, were you trying to one-up him on this thread with that statement?

My favorite Earl quote was from the Sands final when Efren made his famous "Z shot"...

"I'd rather it end like that than win the tournament".

Efren's reply: "I thought I lose already". :D

at the 2002 BCA Tournament in Las Vegas he was playing Lee Huwagen (sp?) and called some fan in the crowd a piece of sh~it. he told him "I dont need you, go root for Efren!"

he lost to LH, and played Rempe late on tuesday night and i sat in the VIP row right next to where Earl was seated. he looked lost and Rempe jumped out 5-0. during a break i told Earl he better get his sh~it together or else he's going home early. he said to me "I was thinking the same thing myself!" and the next thing you know the match is going to the wire. Rempe eventually won 11-10, matched ended about 1:00 a.m.

once during the match somebody yelled at him, and he asked Rempe if that was one of his friends. Rempe just grinned, and as Earl walked back to his chair he looks at me and says "I've seen you before. You're my friend, arent you?" and i responded with "Of Course, and Allison's too" to which Earl replied "Everybody needs friends."

the next night, wednesday night, i am seated in the VIP row right behind Allison as she was playing Loree Jon. Janet Schimel had just arrived and was seated next to me, and me and Allison are bringing her up to speed on Earl's antics for the week. Janet Schimel just sort of hung her head, and shook it in disbelief. me and Allison just kind of grinned at each other.

but its like Tom "Dr Cue" Rossman told me about Earl Strickland "The man has a tremendous skill level!"

Is this the return of OCD ??

Eric >waiting for a "how to handle a booty call" question

Earl was playing Ralf Souquet on the TV table at the US Open and Ralf was taking a long time between shots and it was getting to Earl pretty badly and Earl looked at the crowd and said "You know it takes this guy 3 hours to watch 60 Minutes he's so slow!". Ralf was walking around the table and looking at every possible shot and angle on every shot and it was totally knocking Earl out of his game.

I wouldn't doubt players knows this gets to Earl. When I saw him beat Drago in the "08 Mosconi Cup (I think it was '08) it was great. Both players play fast and loose and I think that is why Earl flourished in this match...as long as he can keep in rhythm he's good.

It was hill hill at MR. Cues in Atlanta Georgia. Earl Came down to play the 10 ball tournament and without fail was making quite an appearance.

In any case, him and Corey are hill-hill and Earl is straight in on the 7 ball and has to draw back past the side pocket, against the rail. He goes to shoot, Jumps back up, and starts chalking his tip rather thoroughly. With a beedy look in his eye, he stares down Corey and says...

"The only thing in the world that can save you now is a miscue!!"

Classic...

That was my favorite one thus far....LOL!!!

in the hong kong match he told some sexy asian girl "i'll pay you 500 to stop scratching your leg right now"

i guess her scratching was diverting his attention toward (or back toward) her legs.

1983-4 I was walking into the Texas River City Open and ran into Earl walking out. I asked him how he was doing. He looked over his shoulder and then looked back at me and said, "I'm walking the wrong direction aren't I?"

The other day i see Earl pull Tony Crosby in the Gem City Classic and tells Johnny Archer who is playing a nobody really, Earl says ive got to play this guy when everyone else gets to play the cook out of the kitchen the floor guy and a taxi driver he said what gives. Every time ive seen Earl he is b****ing about how someone has screwed him

Funny stuff here

Ok I got one.I'm playing him In the DCC onepocket tourny bout 3 years ago and In the first game he's down on a shot and I'm sitting right behind him..he stops his stroke, looks around behind him at me and says(with a mean look) "ya know I'll shoot you full of holes!!"
I just chuckled and said ok.Well I win that game and he thinks It's my break,( It was his)..I said Earl It's your break and he said nah you go a head and break em,LOL So of course I did.At the end of the set I needed like 4 balls and I was shootin and he just raked em down.lol One of the quickest onepocket matches I ever had. I've been around Earl alot and played him alot.He really Is an ok guy as long as your not playing with him.Sorry for rambling on. I just can't help but to laugh at him.John B.
