your favourite player of all time...

Jack Cooney !

Jack was by far the best mover that ever hustled pool..NOBODY laid it down like Jack !

.

It's a toss up between Earl Strickland, Apocalypse2012 and Big Perm.

I think Earl edges them out with his phenominal cue ball control and imagination.

I must be getting good...to be mentioned in the same sentence as earl the pearl.;) I always new I was good with the ladies... wait what are we talkin about?

McCready...for shooting shots nobody in their right mind would attempt, and then the guy makes it.....

Efren - best player I have ever seen. Period.

Earl and Efren, best matches I have seen.

Anything else?

Who's your fav. player of all time and why?

Mine is Johnny Archer I love his immense control over the cue ball.

Nick Varner and Gerda Hofstatter.

Nick is Mr. Unbreakable. The ultimate tournament grinder.

Gerda because I'm a guy.

Pro Players

With all of the different games played, time frames, it's a very tough call.

I do think that a young Keith McCready was the most fun to watch, then a young Earl Strickland

Efren Reyes is the best shot maker

Right now I have no idea, one of the Filipinos probably

These questions are always so hard to answer. :)

Over-all - Jose Parica. I was delighted to watch him and John Schmidt play in the semi-fianls for one-pocket at DCC this year. Love, love, love this man.

Shot-making - Earl Strickland. He's just so exciting to watch, you never know what's going to happen.

One I'm watching now - Jian Bo Fu - I just like his game.

Honorable Mention for over-all - Alex P.

So many other players I've watched and have admired certain traits that they have over the years, but these are my tops, my Jose will always be my favorite. :)

Favourites

There are so many:

I have to go with modern era players as i think they are the best of all time, since pool is now contested all over the globe you can really see the cream. I'll also limit it to players who could be compared today since we will never know the real outcome of Effren from '92 vs Johny from '95 or healthy Earl.

Cream: Alex P., Mika, SVB, Wu, Dennis O, Yang, Alcano (you put these guys on one team, no one can get out)
World class: Niels, Appelton, Ko, bunch of other phillipinos, Homman, Ralf

This is just too close to call for me between Ralf Souquet, Efren Reyes, and Irving Crane.

Varner, Rempe, Ronnie Allen, Fats, Cole Dixon, Ether, Gabby, Bugs, Louie Roberts, Hawiaan Brian, Hubert Cokes and Matlock and I'm sure a few others once I get away from this thread. I'd also have to give the nod to a few of the great suckers that kept allot of the pool world chummed, the Alias Steve Mizerack and there was another out of Denver that Ironman got a large Chunk out of...forgot his name.

For pure entertainment/skill, it would be a tough choice between Kieth in his prime, Ronnie Allen in his prime and Fats in his prime. And to see Bugs in his Pink Baby Huey outfit was something special.

I have to answer ME !!!

and not answereing it in a smart-@ss way. its just that
when it comes to pool, there is nothing that makes me happier
than when I am playing.

Ronnie O'Sullivan, far and away the greatest talent I've ever seen.

If we're just talking just pool then Earl Strickland is my favorite.

Since 14.1 is the ultimate test, I nominate the ultimate 14.1 player - Mosconi. Also because nobody's mentioned him, and he deserves to be.

But for the guy I'd like to be shipwrecked with on a desert island with two pool cues and a Gold Crown table ...... Irving Crane.
