too bad about John, as great a player as he is, he doesn't seem to be very

Considering you do not know him, it's interesting that you think you're qualified to make that kind of judgement.smashmouth said:too bad about John, as great a player as he is, he doesn't seem to be very

I have NEVER done that. Quote it and provide a link to the post.smashmouth said:Hey Timby, are you not the gal who was making racist remarks towards
the fillipinos a while back?
jay helfert said:Interesting match-up here. Must win for Davis. He has a loss already. If Marlon wins, he advances. The arena is nearly full, all filipinos and me. Mike looks around the room at all the filipinos and then he looks right at me and smiles.
Quite a contrast in styles. Mike has this long, open awkward looking stance. Add his long up and down stroke and he looks like just another league player. Until he starts running out every rack.
Meanwhile Marlon is totally un-filipino looking. His stroke has none of that flowery up and down action that we are used to seeing from a filipino. Actually he looks more American in the way he strokes his cue. Had trouble putting my finger on who he reminded me of. Then it came to me. The late Tony Ellin. Short, stocky, shirt askew. Marlon even eyes the table like Tony and gets down like him too.
Next post to come.

jay helfert said:Had to drive down a narrow street to get here. The street is lined with clubs, and girls parading out front. They are young, pretty and alluring. And they are EVERYWHERE. But I have been forewarned by my guide, the one and only "filipino Gene". He is the first great filipino player to come to the US, over 40 years ago. He played mostly around the Bay area (SF) and was a noted money player. He beat many many guys, and no one could beat him shooting behind his back.
I have known Gene for a zillion years and was surprised to see him at the Convention Center. He told me he has been back in the Philipines for eight months now. After he bit me for one bean, he became a most gracious host. I could see that the young players look up to him. America and its riches are their dream. All the good young players are poor kids from the street.
