Just saw that Luxury - Lee Baldwin is a damned fine singer and guitar player.

What do you do or have done in your other life outside pool?

This is me as a member of a high diving show. Last did that in 1993 and ever since been a case maker.

Nice! I had heard you mention diving before and had always envisioned just high school springboard diving. You were fully legit!!! Wow!

By the way, the video you saw in my signature used real fire, not cgi like most think. I taped paper "caps" and magician's flash paper for the explosions between the pool balls. (Right before I was going to change out my cloth.)

Pretty cool John =)

Hope to meet you someday...

Any shot at you bringing the clan and attending any of the tournaments on this years schedule?

Good golly, nothing as exciting or skillful as diving on my resume.

Played on my high school golf team, but gave up serious golf in the late 1980's.

Captain of my high school math team for two years.

Graduated from an Ivy League School, professional career included Accounting, Corporate Finance, Private Banking, and Investment Banking. Retired from a major investment bank in 2008 after six years in the hedge funds business --- most importantly, this freed up my schedule to go to more pool events.

Highly skilled bridge player that competed successfully in national championships in the 1980's. Only a casual player since 1987.

Serious reader, current member of three book clubs and administrator of one of them. Former member of the Charles Dickens Fellowship and The Jane Austen Society.

World traveller with emphasis on European travel. Have made about 100 different trips to Europe in my life. On one of those trips, I went swimming in a public pool (called a municipal bath in England) and climbed to the 10 meter platform, intending to jump, not dive. Took one look downward and aborted the mission, climbing back down to the ground.

Yeah, I don't appreciate heights myself.
There was a poster that linked to one of his bands videos. They had sold a considerable amount of albums.
I believe he rode a Harley in the video. The band looked like heavy metal but played something like hard country rock
and were very enjoyable. I hope someone can remember and post another link.

And I always click on Lee's video and watch over and over.

I wasted so much time riding the Wall of Death. It was a great experience but looking back
on all the other things I could have been doing.

Great thread John, other than that I have nothing to add because I don't have any exceptional skills.

Again John great thread, it's amazing how many talented people we have on the forum.

"other life"... whats that?

...

seriously now :p played football (soccer) for about 15 years, now sometimes indoor.

2 years of basketball but hey, was used to much on heavy body contact and was more outside the court :grin-square:

was in a student association the responsible for evening/party/sport organisation, was a funny time as i knew from this "job" nearly every barman, owner, company representive etc in the region

Now my life sucks.... everyday serious work.... so in my freetime all is about pool (not married, no children, feel to young for that :embarrassed2: )

nice thread though...

I'm an unemployed Satellite repairman. :(
There's just NO gigs man!

seriously, i've been playing the drums a little bit longer than pool.

:thumbup2:

I'm no daredevil but have owned maybe 15 motorcycles and driven all over the country on them (sometimes cue attached ). I was a champion tennis player in high school, finishing second in the city (Dayton) my Senior year. That's when I got hooked on pool. As an adult I've had some success playing poker on a very much part time basis. I've got three final tables at the World Series of Poker. My day job is managing family owned residential properties. Boring, but it pays the bills. ;)

Other Life

Well my life is not so glamorous, I work for the Prision System in my state. Im a Food Service Manager been with them 27 plus years in 5 different facilities.

Ive also been involved with Theatre in my youth. I worked my way up in skill in acting until I finally landed a Lead Role in "The Odd Couple" in a local theatre. Ive played "Dr. Einstein" in "Arsenic and Old Lace". I was a theatre buff for several years in my youth and Ive done a lot of shows, then I grew up and had to make a living.

I could have been a great baseball player and I threw 5 no hitters and several one hit, two and 3 hitters. If I had done this in my day with the internet like it is today I would have been somewhere playing baseball Im sure. I got on a bad team where I was the only white guy, they drafted me to the 15 yr old team and then sat me on the bench, they just wanted me out of the competition so I quit and ended up in pool.

I worked in a Dye House dying cloth once, Ive been a Pizza Man, I got mixed up really good with some Italians...several times, I was very young and stupid.

In my youth Ive dated Italian, Greek, Spanish, Russian, South American and Chinese women. I speak a little Russian but I do not write it, its crazy.

I own a commercial lawn care business aside from the day job at the prison.

I love pool and started back playing in 2005 and I decided to write a book on hardest thing to do in it and thats aim well. I found my key to it. I have other books planned.

I want to change a lot about Pool. Ive done a lot of research into Tournament format and I like the Modified Round Robin. I see a lot of things that need to change in pool and Id like to at least start some of them in such a way that others take over when Im gone.

Ive looked seriously at the Pool Trade Show business and am still considering.

I retire in 24 months...December 2014....and then its pool, something good to eat and drink, working out and good friends, working in my lawn care business and making sure I have something decent to leave behind me when Im gone.

Right now I just want to cruise until retirement and maintain sanity through pool.

Just another lovely day in paradise....

You are a man of many talents. FWIW the first time I was supposed to bunjy jump I didn't go. I was too scared and climbed down. That was when I was working in a show as a professional trampolinist. Was about as high as the high dive platform in the picture above, which by the way is 3x as high as the 10m platform. But I couldn't do it. If there had been water below I would have gone but the idea of the cable breaking scared me too much. I did eventually get over it and did bunjy but I think that my refusal to go even once got me fired. Which was just as well because that's when I made the decision to get into case making full time.

Haven't see that since about 96...
