If I could play that genre while was shooting I'd love it but it's hard to find anymore.I can't play with earphones on. I have to hear the noise of balls clicking an dropping.

Weather you use an Mp3 or just the juke box what is the music that gets you in your rhythm? For me I prefer some good guitar music, maybe Stevie Ray Vaughn. Or just somethin' rockin', like the first Green Day cd from back in the day. So what does it for you?

I couldn't imagine this untill it happened to me - if your concentration is as focused as it should be,
you won't hear a juke box, even one blairing loud enough to rattle the windows.

Earplugs/phones might be different.

I'm glad you put this up, because I really believe that getting in the right mood for an event is the most important part music plays, at least for me. So far, I have not found the right music for my drive to tournaments. :p

I'm going to check out your music this morning and see if it is compatible for me. The Humpty Dumpty music has me putting too much kick into my break.

Thanks,
JoeyA

Some good punk rock and good pop-punk. Old Green Day, Bad Religion, The Descendents, NOFX, Lagwagon, etc etc. Sometimes I get down with Metallica, mostly Ride The Lightning or And Justice For All. For Whom The Bell Tolls and Blackened get my juices flowing at warp speed. Give me a few shots of Jager and play For Whom The Bell Tolls and you might witness me playing air guitar on my pool cue mid-rack.

some good contemporary blues such as Joanna Connor, Craig Erickson or Corey Stevens to name a few.

Anything without words. Techno like bassnectar, classical. I'm also in love with escala. A british instrumental group. Effing unreal how good they are. That said there's no music that distracts me while I'm playing.

On a side note I don't think you can consider yourself a pool player unless you get excited when hearing werewolves of London while shooting (the song playing during the Tom cruise/earthquake scene in the color of money)

Strokin

Greatest pool shooting song ever. Clareance Carter STROKIN.

I only put my headphones on if people around me are getting on my nerves.

Smashing Pumpkins, Failure, Thin Lizzy, some Ween and Lauryn Hill currently on my phone.

Corinne Bailey Rae if I just want to chill.

I grew up going to metal shows, the whole pit mosh thing, but still get annoyed when kids put on Slayer at 2pm with a bunch of old guys playing in a one pocket tourney. Good music, completely wrong time to play it. No respect for other players.

We need a "best song to piss off your opponent thread". Hendrix Star Spangled Banner used to drive a local pro nuts lol.

I played "Buenos Tardes Amigo" by Ween one time and the latinos in the house started walking around looking at the speakers with pissed off looks. Pretty funny if you know the song.

In the last few weeks I have been using my headphones due to someone loading up the juke box with country music. (#1 on my list of music that gets me from 0 to pissed in no time at all)

I listen to a wide range going from Beatles, Hendrix, Zeppelin to the harder side of rock including Old Metallica, Slayer, Pantera. Either the speed metal or the classic rock both work for me in helping me get focused and I can get lost in the music and just enjoy shooting balls. I've cashed in the last 3 tournaments I've entered so I guess music does soothe the savage beast.

While I don't know any songs that piss off my opponent, I DO KNOW A SONG that will get Scotty Townsend out of STROKE and that's fo' shizzle.:yeah::yeah:

This is an interesting thread for me...

I have always liked to play with headphones on listening to Music..

It started back to 1989 when I came over to the States from the UK
to learn to play 9 Ball. I stayed in Miami for the best part of a year and
played on Corrinne Hoffman's South Florida Pro 9 Ball Tour. I travelled
with Tommy Brown and John Ditoro, Miami Vice as they were known.
I myself was dubbed "Miami Vice, London Branch" by Benny Conway LOL

Back then I had a "Sony Walkman" cassete player with three album tapes.
Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms"
Fine Young Cannibals "Raw and the Cooked"
Sade "Diamond Lights.

In fact Ray Martin started wearing a Walkman after playing me in one of
the Tournaments. He asked me why I was wearing it and I told him that
because I played so well with an open Bridge and an Ash Snooker cue with
just a 10mm tip spectators would often comment on it, so I started wearing
the headphones to cut out any distraction. He then told me he had also
been having a similar problem. His matches usually drew a good crowd but
they often contained too many "whisperers" and it sometimes bothered him.
He then asked if he might try out my Walkman in his next match.
Next tournament I saw him at he was wearing a Walkman himself LOL

This year, while making my comeback after 10yrs not picking up a cue.
I was disappointed not to be allowed to wear an Mp3 player during my
matches on the Uk Pro 9 Ball Tour (GB9 Ball Tour). As I always wear one
in practice and find it helps me focus and play with a consistent rythym.

I have a Rap Playlist (Snoop, Dr Dre, Suger Hill Gang)
A Jazz/Blues Playlist (Jonny Lang)
A Dance/Club Mix (Slinky Intercontinental)

And my favourite play list which is simply named "LOUD"

I DO play it VERY loud LOL...

Don't Fear The Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult)
Basketcase (Greenday)
Born Free (Kid Rock)
Come as you are (Nirvana)
Sweet child 'O mine (Guns n Roses)
Lithium (Nirvana)
Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi)
Money for Nothing (Dire Straits)
Paradise City (Guns n Roses)
Rebel Yell (Billy Idol)
Smells like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)
Times like these (Foo Fighters)
White Wedding (Billy Idol)
You aint seen Nothing Yet (Bachman Turner Overdrive)

I usually listen to rap where I play, but trust me...it's not by choice. When I move on to grad school next year I plan to get a table for my rental house. If that works out then I'll be listening to John Prine, Rolling Stones, The Band, Gram Parsons, Alice In Chains, etc.

If I have a choice it would have to be Pink Floyd, otherwise I'm good with most any other classic rock. No Country or rap unless it's Cypress Hill or old school Run DMC ;)

Two questions 1)is your arm around that guys hip in the picture? 2) Who's house???????
