At the time, most movie goers would have no idea. That's still true today. At least they gave a nod to the legendary maker, and used cues custom made by another.

Imagine if they didn't care at all and used some K-Mart cues.

In the end "Doom" took on a life of its own, it was a character in the movie. Look at us still talking about it today.

There was a guy on Facebook making exact replicas of the case. I don't know if he's still doing it.

It would be cool to have a Joss COM cue in a replica case. I'm not prepared to throw money at that, but if I found that set under the Christmas tree I would giggle like a school girl.

I might even take it to the pool hall, play the sound track, and twirl that thing around like Vincent. LOL!

I'm more likely to say "I'm back" when I break. Which I actually did after taking 5 years off. I'm the old guy now...

Agreed.

As an aside, I will say that I have not strictly enforced the rule on the warning being given at the start of my inning as opposed to after the second foul - at least when the player warns me after the second foul and immediately plays for the 3rd foul.

I would say it’s not uncommon around here for the opposing player not to repeat the warning in that situation and I’ve never seen someone rely on it. I wonder if I polled 100 9b players how many would know you are supposed to give the warning at that time rather than after the second foul?

I actually think best practice is to warn both after the foul and at the start of the inning, especially if you are planning to make a few balls before you play for the 3rd foul. Your opponent’s memory of the first foul will be better immediately after the second foul.

Because Fast Eddie probably used a Balabushka in the movie, The Hustler, from the 60's. A lot of top players probably played with a Balabushka back in the 60's.

My Kao confusion is due to remembering Harold Miller, the former sales manager for Adam Cues. He later used the Kao Kao factory to manufacture high-end "Cobra Professional" import cues. The Mizerak Professional Series cues were made at that same factory under a deal with Mizerak. These lines directly rivaled the construction of Adam cues.

Interesting info. I bet Taican is who made the Lucasi cues, during that same time period. Because they numbered all of their cues. The numbers just all looked the same. Never understood what they meant though. They even Numbered the very low end Players cues.

The quickest path to a straight, repeatable stroke, and the best metric used to evaluate it.

The bottle will help develop a piston stroke. For a pendulum stroke, it's no good. Also, the exercise is much better if you actually hit a ball. Otherwise, you are just working with some kind of contraption.
