UK open commentary

It makes no sense for Matchroom to fly out JJ and Scott to commentate. Flights and hotels are very expensive!

WNT are clearly cost-cutting, so this sort of makes sense.
Why would pool commentators have to be on site?

They could commentate from a booth at home, over the live stream. Obviously someone on site would have to do post-match interviews with players though.

Shipping cue

If you are going to ship a cue with that value, I strongly recommend Fedex triangular express tube. Fedex (and everyone else) charges much more for a round tube, as they are harder to process. They have the best tracking and are the most reliable in my opinion. Fedex express Saver is a good choice, gets most anywhere in the US in 2-3 days. Definitely not the cheapest, though, but I never skimp on shipping an expensive cue.

Shipping cue

How is everyone shipping cues? I'm talking private party not business. I have gotten a recommendation for Fedex. Also round tube, have that, or sq box, not sure if I have that. Apx value $1500-$1800. Also apx cost to do this, mid country to the coast? Have never shipped cue before, and if Paypal, how does that work for Paypal to get funds to you? I have a Paypal acct but don't use it.

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

World Pool Masters being back is great. Top 12 in the rankings and four wild cards. WNT is showing Ko Pin Yi in the promo. He won’t be ranked in the top 12, but he will almost certainly be a wild card since the event is in Tapei.

Phil Yates also said about the schedule this year that ‘you are to see some additions that haven’t been announced yet.’ Got to be the WPC at least.

Hope the World Cup of Pool is brought back. Matchroom is alive and kicking.

UK open commentary

I stand in the minority. I really enjoy Phil Yates and gobble up the wisdom nuggets he drops about the players backgrounds, personalities, and other historical pool happenings in the past. I think he's great.
I'm with you on this, agreed 100% about Phil Yates. I like them all - I've always like Karl Boyes and even though he went into full on clown mode recently when he didn't know the rules, I still rate him highly as a commentator. I love JJ's calm zen and knowledge - perfect commentator for both pool aficionados and channel hopping refugees whose favorite sport has just finished. Scott Frost is equally excellent.
