Bergman will play WNT events in 2026

This is great news. I always liked both Justin and his 9ball game. Still, despite Scott's suggestion, I highly doubt he'll do everything he can to qualify, as that would mean, at very least, playing in all the WNT majors.

It's hard to imagine the travel-phobic Justin going to the WNT majors in Asia (World 9ball, Hanoi Open and Philippines Open), but even if Justin plays only the Florida Open, US Open, UK Open and European Open, he will have ample opportunity to prove himself worthy of a Mosconi pick. Of course, barring a couple of top three finishes, such participation probably wouldn't be enough to gain one of the three automatic qualifying spots, so he'd likely need to rely on becoming a wildcard pick.

Of course, the burning questions are a) does he play 9ball as well as he did in 2013-19? b) how much will the lack of world class competition in recent years hold him back? and c) can he learn the WNT break?

There's no doubt in my mind that if he can reproduce his form of 2013-2019, he can shine in WNT play. His biggest weakness back then was his break, but he ran the table quite well. His defense and kicking were superb, and those skills are now more important than they ever have been in WNT play.

The Derby City 9ball, a WNT rankings event, would be a nice place for him to start. Wishing him the best of luck.
He hates airplanes so this will be a challenge.

About Mike Pancerney

He was born in Windsor, Ontario, and started playing pool around age 15. In his early twenties, he worked at the Dufferin Game Room, handling tip replacements and repairs. Visits to the company’s Toronto facility sparked his fascination with cue construction.
After leaving Dufferin, he built a reputation for quality repairs, leading local players to seek him out directly. He purchased a Porper Model B lathe, expanding his services to include re-wraps and replacement shafts.
In 1998, he married and moved to Michigan, bringing his lathe along. The thriving local pool scene, filled with tournaments and custom cues from masters like Joss West, Szamboti, Black Boar, Richard Black, and Joel Hercek, inspired him to create cues of comparable quality.
His shop grew over time with new equipment, including a pantograph for inlays—though the manual process was tedious. His day job in automotive production introduced him to AutoCAD, and a colleague’s suggestion led him to acquire a CNC milling machine. Within five months, he was designing and cutting complex inlays digitally; he still uses that original machine today, with ongoing upgrades.
He has met many legendary cue makers, all friendly and highly skilled. Cue making attracts intelligent, tasteful individuals and demands expertise in woods, glues, metals, finishes, plastics, and more—uniting diverse materials into a flawless-playing instrument requires patience, passion, and constant refinement.
For him, it has always been a labor of love, focused on precision craftsmanship and inlay artistry. In the coming years, he plans to realize long-held design ideas, blending 25 years of experience with bold new directions. He eagerly anticipates this next chapter.

Soo.... There's a YouTube guy called The Blind Surfer because, well, he's blind and he surfs. In one video he shot some pool. Didn't say what system he used but he did make some shots. It looked to me like there was some kind of pivot going on. 😎
