I believed the company name was American Vinyl Products, or AGQ case.
Yes, American Vinyl Products was a successful business creating all sorts of vinyl products for packaging of accessories for many companies. I think George created the cue cases to create a job for Al, they were very good friends.

I went to their shop to pick out my first case and got the grand tour, you would not believe the companies they worked with (I think Barbie was one).

I met George in 1976 when I moved to California. He was a great guy who did a lot for people and, as you all know, he did so much for 3 cushion in the 🇺🇸. He had the best penmanship and his tournament boards were a work of art. He will be missed <sigh>. RIP George.

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Apart from the consternation that a low-hanging shirt touching (or not touching) a ball might cause in league matches, I think all ball fouls would be an enjoyable addition to the game. It forces the shooter to be more exact when cueing over or around balls and makes position play to a comfortable shooting zone more rewarding (or punishing if you play safe and your opponent must bridge over a ball).

If an individual is a part of a billiard league, it should be assumed that he/she enjoys and/or respects the game enough to follow the official rules. Leagues are social by nature but they’re also more formal and structured than going down to your local pub on Friday night and shooting a couple games with random bar patrons. Let the leagues abide by official rules and let the random bar-bangers play their house rules.

Break Stats -- 2025 Oneida WPA Women's World 8-Ball Championship, July 2025

Yes, good point. The men's event was using the Predator Aerorack triangle rack, whereas the template might well have had a beneficial effect for the women. I neglected to include that on the list of differences but have edited it in now. Thanks.

that's a big difference because that rack is wonky.. i believe the predator table at the men's event has had 4.25" pockets too, shelf slightly deeper

either way the ladies played well, i'm not negating that

This Made My Pool Day

It was a pleasure to receive this from a student I met with on Saturday:

"Hi Matt, just wanted to thank you for all of your time yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I can tell that you, like I, really enjoy teaching. That it's clear you've given a lot of thought and study to the game. It was very helpful in several ways. Some of the interpretations you have of what Pros do, versus what they say they do, are food for thought for me. Some things definitely different than I think I have observed. But I don't mind exploring different things. I don't have enough years left to turn into a great player, but I do get a lot of satisfaction out of improvement. I'll work on some things and check back with you again fairly soon. Thanks again!
🙂

How to clean wood shaft after every use?

I’m a little hesitant to admit this but I’m thinking I can’t be the only one. The only thing I clean my cue shaft (carbon or wood)with, is my untucked shirt tail. If I’m using anything else, it’s probably because I made a mess while eating or drinking. [emoji15]

same. i always wear dark t-shirts / sweatshirts anyway.

for proper cleaning i use isopropanol and microfiber cloth, sometimes magic eraser

2025 ONEIDA WPA Women’s 8‑Ball World Championship

she said it's her least favorite game and it had been years since she played it, until predator's venture into eurotour earlier this year. but i would guess that chezka has played it even less

Yes it looked like Chezka didn’t know the rule for a scratch on the 8 ball. But regardless the last few matches of this event were really great.
