This is so nice, I don't get it why haven't I seen one of these before. Very nice gesture, it makes a cue built by him so much more personal - it is as if it would show even more of the pride Gus took in building the cue.

I am sure that you do, Alton, but let me tell you that you should feel very honoured by being allowed to make something with Gus's name, design or even his portrait on it. You have been the best and most appropriate choice for this honour, in my opinion.

This has to be your nicest work so far - not the most flashy or the one with the most intricate construction... but the nicest.

Very nice work and the image is just out of this world gorgeous.
Please show the cue cap straight on for the other fine details.

Alton,

This cap looks great! Bob Hergert scrimshawed an entire ivory handle cue for me last year, and he is one of the very best in the world at his craft. I also found him to be superb to work with, very easy to work together on new ideas!

Great job!

You know I love your work, Alton. But this one just completely blows me away. Eric is a lucky person.

I'm triple lucky, when I Alton called me I couldnt believe it. He chose me for this Cap, How lucky is that??? My all time favorite cue maker on a cap, what a brilliant idea.

Its going on a 6 point Gus, I thought the rarest Gus would be the best plan for the caps.

Thanks again Alton

Great Work

Alton this is one great cue cap; it looks like it is executed to perfection. Eric it will always be great to see Gus's face when you open the case and get ready to pull out one of his masterpieces. Congrats on a great cap.

Please..Not Me...

Thanks everyone, but, I think there is a BIG mistake here..
It is Bob Hergert that deserves all the compliments.
It is the skill of Bob Hergert that can make scratches in Ivory, fill it with black ink and when done,
the image of a person can be recognized.
Let me reinterate, "The Image of the person, can be recognized."

Please give Bob Herger the credit he so wellfully deserves.
Remember, "You can not erase Scrimshaw."

Eric, Thanks.
It is your rare Gus 6 Point Cue that it would be most fitting to be on.
Please remember, I make nothing off this..
These kind of caps are for Presentation purposes.
Adding something to contribute to the cue.
In this case, a portrait of the Cue's Maker.
Hey Barry, O.K. ?..:embarrassed2:

I will send Bob a link to this post.
If you would like to Congratulate Bob, he will be viewing this post.
Thank You all.
Thanks Bob, for letting me shine with all your skills..:p...;)

Ok, I will re-phrase my praise (hey, I'm a poet!).

Great idea, Alton and wonderful scrim work by Mr. Hergert. A classic cap for a classic cue.

I took pics of the cue with the cap the other night, I sent them to Barry. Wow does it look great, I need to have Steve P take pics(cause I suck), Its hard to really appericate just how good that cap is by any pictures.

It matches the cue nicely because the cap is very basic, as the only focal point is Gus himself as it should be, the cue is a plane jane 6pt Gus(no big deal;)) . Seriously I didnt think the cap should be on a cue that would distract from Gus, so putting it on a loaded 8pt Gus(not that I have one :frown:) wouldnt have been a good idea. I wanted everyone to see Gus. I'm still so happy I was picked for this cap. Alton picked the right guy(me), I'm not being egotistical saying that, I dont have the biggest Gus colection, but my relationship with Barry and how I have admired Gus over the years is why, Alton must have ssaw that.

I'm doing something with some of Gus's work(its a secret-Barry is helping but dosent even know what I'm doing to honor Gus), I will a press release when that project is finished. Gus was a inspiration to me when I was comming up in life, he never knew me or how he influenced me, that is a private thing(Barry knows). I will leave it at that, Thanks Alton, you have no idea how great this is for me, the feeling of being picked is better than anything. I didnt "buy" my self into this spot, and to me its a big deal. things like this are so much more meaningful than buying a Gus, anyone csan do that if they put their mind to it, but to have a cap built a one of a kind with Gus on it, thats not $$$, thats love.

Sorry I'm so lame(this isnt the first time I had to ask), someone please email me at EP90210@hotmail.com and I will send pics to be posted here. I sincerly appericate the help, I really do my best at everything I do in life, but posting pic's just isnt my bag, I wish It was I could add alot of nice pice of things here-but I'm lame.

thanks in advance, It took me a couple years to learn how to email pics, its amazing I can even do that.
