> I have two of these custom-made files I bought from a repairman in Memphis that are just the nuts. I've also seen a link somewhere online for them but haven't re-found it yet.

Basically,it's a Tip Tapper with no handle, and slightly curved, about 3 1/2 long, but one of them is longer than the other. You have to pay close attention though,it's WAY, WAY sharper than even a brand new Tapper, and depending on which way you "push" it,it's either single or double-cut. I just lay it on my tip and turn the shaft a little, and it does the job with just it's weight,no additional pressure needed. It's also made from oil-hardening tool steel, and hardened to about 60RC,so it can't be worn out.

I used an It's George before that. Tommy D.

That's not it. Williard shaper, Sandman shaper and some multi purpose tool for tapping and scuffing.

nothing out there as sharp as this i promise that

Brianna,

Have you considered using that design to create a dime shaped tip shaper?

Thanks

Dan

This tool to me looks like it would be hard on tips if over used!

I like the following and carry them with me,

1. 220 GRIT SAND PAPER

2. Dime Willard (used rarely)

3. Black Tip Tapper

4. Porper Mushroom Tube (about $4.00)

advertisement much

best tip tool by far and the only one you should ever need is a tip pick. This is especially true if you use a non-layered tip like a milk dud.

It's George

I have an It's George tip tool that came in a leather pouch. I've had it for like 15 years and it is still sharp where it needs to be. Best one I've ever found.

Brad

It isn't the arrow, it's the indian. A brad tool still gets it done for me. A brad tool in my watch pocket and a little sandpaper or a scotchbrite in my hip pocket and I'm good to go.

This may sound absurd but first I use a hammer. :smash:And after I've got the tip all packed down all I use anymore is one of those cheap curved sanding boards.

I have tried many. It's George wins hands down for me!!

Several years back I bought a Pocket Lathe. It came with a nickle and dime tip shaper.. like pvc pipe cut length wise. I cut a piece off the dime shaped one... about 2" long and drilled a hole for a clip to attach to my key chain. Easy to carry, perfect shape, replaceable sandpaper.

Scotti Scuffer

I love the Scotti Scuffer! I just ordered a Pal Joey and 2 more Scotti's (I lost the last one I had, think it got swiped...) Maybe the Pal Joey will sway my opinion :)
